  1. It arrived a week or so ago, very-very happy with it, if you have any particular questions, please let me know.
  2. Will there be a South and North to follow on to this product?
  3. Yep, swap over data back up drives by all means, I do that all the time, but anything like an OS or what we do here FS wise, really needs a brand new install for best results on a major hardware change.
  4. Virpil have just released very nice looking Helicopter Collective controllers and grip, even a mounting for most desk style chairs, will be buying this later in year for DCS Hind and Huey especially.
  5. Depends Dad Tom IMHO. If you are going from Intel to Intel and same chipset and OS and same for AMD and OS ... Windows 10, then probably after a few restarts and updates and chipset driver updating, it should ... Windows 10 is quite robust and not so fussy as older MS OS's that way. But if you ever experienced a bug or a crash (and you will ... we all do) you would never be sure what caused it and be left with nagging doubts. Its a thought, a bit of an upheaval to go install a fresh new OS and especially for downloading FS2020 again afresh, it takes time and patience, but both will reward you for being so thorough, but for me and many I know and as a general rule of thumb, swapping out a GPU is OK so long as you clean out old drivers and especially if it was from the other team But swapping chipsets and CPU's of vastly different pedigree is not advisable. Best way to go after a major hardware upgrade is a brand new start IMHO. Good luck and best whatever you decide
  6. Hi HeyFred Glad you reported this, no immediate plans to buy one of the new X Boxes that can play FS2020 though did originally have a daft notion of doing that last year. Its PC Flight simulation all the way for me. And so there are indeed different compatibility versions of the Yoke and perhaps Bravo too? No worries here after some early teething problems, my Honeycomb Alpha Yoke and Bravo Throttle work fine in all I do on a PC computer ... they were never going to be useful in the traditional X-Box living room big TV experience, the whole mounting system is designed for traditional desktop PC users .... Console gamers are a completely different way of life !!! Sort of Armchair gamers that might like a little non serious Flight Sim. If Honeycomb do indeed intend to sell both PC and X-box versions of their otherwise brilliant Yokes and Throttle quad, they should do so soon and let us know, what's the point of keeping it top secret until last minute? I'd have thought dual compatibility for both platforms would be the best move ... sales of both versions to one person owning a PC and X-box must be minimal. I just don't think we are getting the full story here somehow Makes no sense to me whatsoever !
  7. Hi Derek From UK here, thought the Honeycomb Yokes at least were back in stock here, perhaps not, do have them both now, awesome, did have to pay over the odds for my Bravo throttle on ebay from a scalper who had managed to buy a few of them, but it was either that or do without for a while, no regrets here but I understand your decision if you have a throttle already.
  8. Just another thought Derek. If you do have money burning a hole in your pocket and are satisfied with your PC's performance for now while we wait for these strange times to recover and indeed see hardware prices and availability return to more normal levels (hopefully) then perhaps invest in FS peripherals, or even a nice new big monitor, HoneyComb Yokes and throttle units seem to be back in the stores, great gear. Recently bought RealSim gear GN 430 and 530 and having a lot of fun with these, works in FSX P3D XP11 ... I think FS2020 but not tried it myself in this sim yet.
  9. Hope so I wonder if this is the final LM upgrade for P3D or do they intend to keep it going beyond V5 ? ... pretty sure if they went a V6 it would not be a free upgrade as has been the case with previous versions ... honestly not sure what their road map is ? Just curious how much further they can go with P3D now, just hope my add ons from Orbx and others still continue to work fine with 5.2 and my FS hardware Peripherals.
  10. Good news, will check this out later. Hope it does not break anything else ....
  11. And looking at that motherboard spec, it does not seem so bad if a person is determined to stay Intel, hopefully someone can help Derek out here please. Its CPU specs are ... CPU Intel® Socket LGA1200 for 11th Gen Intel® Core™ Processors & 10th Gen Intel® Core™, Pentium® Gold and Celeron® Processors Supports Intel® 14 nm CPU Supports Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0** * Refer to www.asus.com for CPU support list. ** Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 support depends on the CPU types.
  12. Hi Derek Congrats on your 79 years, hope I'm still enjoying flight simulation when I reach your age. Firstly, no need to upgrade if you are having fun and seeing decent frame rates in what you do ... more performance is always better of course, but perhaps at diminishing returns, there comes a point where it can seem like throwing money at something for little return. When planning an upgrade for modern flight sims ... or even games, its important to plan a package of suitable parts, set out a base plan. Take stock of your existing parts, what can be used again in new build? what needs replaced ETC. Please dont buy motherboards unless you have a CPU in mind for it and also a reason for this upgrade and need the features it has ... don't mean to be disrespectful, but that's not how it works mate. Perhaps you can return that motherboard under current UK 30 day distance selling rules and get a full refund (you would need to pay postage back though) would still be cheaper than Ebay, or if you really want to keep it maybe some can advise you on best Intel CPU for it, suitable ram if you need it ETC. Its going to be hard to improve on your 1080Ti in foreseeable future without spending serious money and having luck finding the parts ... these are strange times for GPU's especially. Good luck and PS: your sig needs upgraded as it does not reflect your current hardware mate.
  13. I'll be 62 in July, so just 3 and a bit years to go
  14. Back on topic An updated Sim Survey usage would be interesting. As regards Orbx supported sims, not military ones ETC I enjoy too, then ... FS2020, but still surprising even to me, find myself sitting on the fence with it and just take dips in every week or so and after patches ETC to check its progress and its position on the promised road map for it, its got a lot of maturing to do yet, but it does seem to be getting there ... its a keeper ... its our best hope really for the future. Was on early Alph Beta testing for FS2020 too .. shrugs. FSX Acceleration and Steam on a different PC, still fly this a lot believe it or not, really is getting a bit rough around the edges eye candy wise compared to MS 2020, but still has a lot going for it, especially if you like good missions ... the Mission, Bush Flying, Landing Challenges in MS2020 is far from fully fleshed out yet IMHO and I don't think they have any real plans to do that unfortunately. The mission voice acting in FSX was excellent and mission types wide and varied, from fun to very complex SAR ones like the Missing Co-worker one that has several different locations to find him and can take hours to complete ... so wish MS2020 did this too as an option. P3D V 5, its well mature now, cant see LM making it much better, they should fix any remaining bugs and leave it at v 5, major revisions like a v 6 would probably break things again and be a PITA for after market company's to keep up with perhaps? Its become a moving target that is losing its appeal, at least for me slightly ... Time to retire the old lady perhaps from new releases (not from flying it) thanks though Lockheed Martin, do appreciate the work you put into the old engine but I think its as solid as it can be in V5, just chase a few more bugs please. Last but not least .. XP11, been trying to get into X-Plane since much earlier versions, this one is best one yet, don't fly it as much as above simulations I've listed, but it always has that alluring return appeal where I might make that magical flight where it all gels and I think wowee, that was awesome, its still a bit clunky for the UI IMHO, but so is MS2020 as has been mentioned in this thread, just needs patience to sit down and understand ... wouldn't it be amazing if all sims had a common good intuitive UI especially for controllers? :) Sadly have dropped Aerofly FS2 ... it never really took off did it.
  15. I'd often thought of trying that. Seen them live several times now, Bruce Dickenson their singer is an amazing guy, flying his band and equipment around the world on tour, first in 757's and then 747 as you say. Hope we can get some Iron Maiden livery's for the jets too.
  16. Hi Piotr, thanks for showing your your progress, was thinking about your upgrade the other day, still love my RTX3090 and Ryzen 5950X ETC Flight Sim build, but even with headphones on I can hear the fans ramp up when doing some heavy Flight Simulation., they do the job but it all sounds quite stressful ... TY for inviting me to Volanta too BTW. Have decided, went this far with my recent build, want to go proper water cooling now, hopefully you can guide me along the way too my friend on this upgrade of an upgrade ... I like the look of your RTX card waterblock ... takes guts to peel off the stock air cooler on an expensive card and kiss the warranty good bye ... have heard some company's will allow it though, but perhaps only on factory return and inspection of damage? Also we need to consider, even if we did break them and warranty allowed it, there wont be many replacements around for a while, but I don't mind doing that too, you'll know what you are doing Piotr and I feel I can do it too with your help maybe I think its my Ryzen 5950X Corsair 360 AIO cooler Cant cope, or barely copes ... Temps are OK, but its the noise,. read some more reviews now and its far from the best AIO cooler for a Ryzen 5950X working at full steam, extreme fan Corsair profile needed with it. Its high time in my life to try a proper and powerful water cooled CPU and GPU set up, not sure about going acrylic pipes and bending, flexible tubing will be fine for me, still not interested in RGB but did realise a project like this will need a bigger more roomier case for beefier pumps and more, bought this one in advance from Scan and arrived yesterday, over weekend will swap my parts into it, but this will be the basis of my proper water cooling upgrade ... hope you can help buddy. Its a Coolermaster Cosmos C700P ... Its massive, did measure it up before ordering W/D/L and its fits under my desk. but when it arrived in its big box ... I thought, here I go into madness again This one will keep me going another few builds in the next 10 years or so, though ... justified it that way, heh. Will be fitting castors to it too somehow, its very heavy even with no PC parts in it. Beast of a case, but sheer quality.
  17. Very informative guy, well respected in our community, knows his hardware and how to present it to anyone, no matter their skill level in a pleasant manner.
  18. Also worthy of note perhaps, Motherboard I use for my build and 5950 X got a new BIOS for my Asus Crosshair VIII Hero just the other day, hard to imagine it might have made a difference to my CPU temp, but it might have helped too with my other recent tweaks? This new 3204 BIOS is just days old, and was applied with my other tweaks to lower my CPU idle temps ... whatever I've done seems to be working and it still bursts to an undocumented over 5.GHz when pushed. Keep an eye on the new Ryzen Motherboard BIOS's lads, when they ... The new Ryzens were first introduced we were always told it might take time to mature with newer BIOS etc
  19. Thanks PiotrMKG, spent a good few hours looking at my Corsair AIO 360 setup and doing research yesterday and came out of it without changing any hardware or undervolting and a much cooler running Ryzen 5950X now and extremely pleased about that ... really do want to run this rig at stock everything for foreseeable future and glad now with your prompts to have looked at things again and temps are lower now for idle and at full ramp ... it just took a little more understanding of my Corsair AIO package and its capability's software wise, their manual for the cooler is so basic. Was going to buy a better AOI cooler but one I have comes out tops in many reviews. Love what you are doing for high end cooling and tweaking, please keep us updated.
  20. Awesome ... Piotr, meant to ask, what PSU do you use? your RTX 3090 needs 3 x plugs I guess thats Aftermarket PSU cables too, very neat, You know what, might go proper water cooling for my CPU soon, the 5950X I own should be running a little cooler, its well within spec of course but current Corsair cooler, its a drain on software resources, it wants a USB plug, just for RGB bling, but more ... and its so not needed ,,, the OcUK non name 360 AIO cooler I use on my second older I7 8700K 5Ghz is fantastic, might swap them over if I can get it to fit my Ryzen CPU? Heard some folk undervolt these new AMD CPU's too ... but thats silly IMHO, system here has been 100% reliable since day one and crushes everything I do with it at 4K, its wonderfully stable ... really dont want to mess with it to be honest my friend.
  21. Do you really think expensive performance motherboards make a difference Piotr? I tried two good ones for my CPU and GPU this upgrade, both had hooks for dedicated water cooling loops ... but you know what buddy, you can invest cooling in that hardware, and before you know it, it can become a loop of ever increasing expenditure trying to keep up with the Joneses and changing CPU socket types ETC ... what is your Flight sim Goal? what sim do you aim the performance at? Hope I do not sound critical, really do want to see this build of yours here and FS results.
  22. Very, very impressive build there Piotr, and as I understand you are still going to water cool your RTX3090? Awesome, what motherboard did you go for? I remember when I built my new rig you recommended the Asus Dark Hero, that was not going to be available for a while it seemed and very expensive too, so settled for something slightly less Crosshair VIII Hero, it does everything I need to be honest for a Ryzen 5950X, stock clock Zotac RTX 3090 24GB, 64GB DDR4 3600 mhz tight timing build and more ... one of my concerns building my rig was it would not be happy with the 4 ram slots populated, but it is ... its very stable as I like things with no overclocking anymore these days, just switch the PC on and seeing great FS performance is a pleasure indeed :) Its all a big jump over my 3 year older 6 core cherry picked,de-lidded Intel all the time 5Ghz I7 8700K CPU, Titan X 12 GB, 32 GB ram etc etc build ... the time was right for my new build ... struggled getting some of the parts for sure, LOL, but was on the ball on release days and got her built before Christmas I suppose :) I respect what you do though pushing the hardware envelope, will be following with interest my friend ... enjoy.
