Went to Hanmer Springs situated in New Zealand's picturesque South Island. 1. The most numerous fighter aircraft in history with 33984 being produced. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.8.The very narrow u/c cause no end of problems for the 109 on the ground. Always looked very ungainly to me. 9. G'day Girls! 10. Got it down first time! 11. 10% of 109s built were lost in ground accidents, 1500 between 1939-41. 12. Even so once in the air the 109 was the most formidable of opponents with several German Aces building up a staggering number of kills, mostly on the eastern front.
