L52 - Oceana County A/P

Wakashi

Recommended Posts

Gonna give gliding another try with a different glider this time.  Tow Plane take off from L52 Rwy 11, short fly around the area looking for hard to find thermals, was able to stay aloft for about 45 min (according to my Citizen's watch) at altitudes up to 1200 agl.  Pretty neat and different flying, not as challenging as a helicopter but definitely different!

Club bus and other pilots and wives are with us today.  We had to reserve the a/p for the day in order to pull this outing off!

Tow plane hooked up, almost ready to get airborne!

And we have liftoff!

Found my first thermal and attempting to stay in it proved difficult and keep up the speed!

Losing altitude now and looking to try to land this thing unscathed!

So far so good over Rwy 29 threshold!

Pretty much on center and not far above the ground.

Made it!  Only lost a little paint on the left wing tip right at the end!

Thanks for gliding along today! :D

Great uplifting shots indeed Roger Roger. I heard your wife yelling: " Is your insurance policy paid up?":D

Thanks Karl!  Yeah, I told her to quiet it down a bit, but of course she just got louder!! :wub:

Thanks Jean Marc for commenting!  At least I got her down to ground level and on time also, I was running low on fuel!! :D
