olderndirt Posted June 21, 2020 Share Posted June 21, 2020 I lived in Desoto County in the central part of the state - Arcadia is the county seat and was certainly different after forty or so years in Alaska. Ourbound from the Sarasota Bradenton airport (right center) and eastbound along SR70. Lake Myakka - full of the usual reptiles. They have a wonderful 'Adopt an alligator' program In early times this was 'cattle country' and Arcadia was the cowboys' watering hole. During WW2, two airfields were home to RAF flight training cadets - center left is 'Oak Ridge' cemetry where eleven who died during training are buried along with J.P. Riddle (Embry-Riddle). The Union flag flies 24/7 by their special plot. Did anyone ever mention that Florida is flat. In my area, the highest point was an overpass on I75. The lake and town of Okeechobee.
