Hi everyone,

Here's a really simple step-by-step guide to using the new OrbxDirect website and store, transferring your Orbx licenses from

the Flight Sim Store and using FTX Central V3 (FTXCv3).

Firstly, visit the new OrbxDirect website at https://orbxdirect.com/

To open an account, click on Sign up.

Please note that this account is NOT linked to your forum access.

You will then be prompted to complete a registration form.

If at all possible, use the same email address as you used in your Flightsimstore.com account.

Once you've added your information click on the  Register button.

You will see this:

You'll receive a validation email from Orbx, so just click the link in the email.

Once your account is validated you'll be able to log into the OrbxDirect website.

UPDATE MAY 2019.

The Flight Sim Store is effectively closed. If you own product licences that you bought there and you have not yet transferred them to Orbx Direct,

please read and act on this topic.

You will find the new OrbxDirect website is laid out differently and is less cluttered than before.

Take some time to have a look around and see where everything is.

We've added over 2,500 brand new screenshots and we hope you like the revised format.

Now you're ready to download the new FTX Central V3. Click on the  Get FTX Central  button on the main page.

4.jpg

This will take you to the download page

6.jpg

Save the installer exe file to a temporary folder or desktop on your PC, then run the installer.

FTX Central will replace your older version of FTX Central V1 or V2 automatically.

Don't worry, all the features of the previous versions have been retained.

FTX Central V3 (FTXCv3) will then start and present you with the new style user interface.

Now press the   Log In  button so you can link FTXCv3 with your OrbxDirect account.

7.jpg

Type in your OrbxDirect credentials again.

Now FTXCv3 checks your OrbxDirect account and automatically shows you what you have installed, purchased and not yet

installed and not yet purchased.

This is an easy way for you to see what products you still need to install, or what to purchase to complete your collection.

You will also see two notifications in white writing on a blue background.

Click on each one to apply the update.

Note that the X Plane 11 Orbx libraries must be added to the account before it can be updated.

10.jpg

Of course we realise that may be too cluttered for some people, so if you click on Settings at the bottom left of the FTXCv3

interface, you'll be taken to the settings screen.

There you can choose what product information is displayed.

You have total control of this aspect of FTXC and of course at any time you can re-enable the display of products you've not

purchased yet.

Now let's go and purchase another product from OrbxDirect, it's only a few clicks away.

Firstly click the chain link and orbxdirect.com under the Orbx logo to take us to the store.

Your browser will be spawned with your account still logged in.

If your account is not logged in, be sure to click on "Remember Me".

Click on Products and you will see them sorted into compatible simulators.

Let's purchase YBRM Broome International for X Plane 11.

11.jpg

Click on the airport name in yellow letters.

Now you will be show the YBRM product page where you can read a summary of the airport's main features and the price is clearly

shown in Australian dollars (we also show USD, Euro and GBP - for other currencies use Google).

12.jpg

You can also browse screenshots and videos (click the top-right menu in the video window to view the video playlist), and there

is information about sim compatibility and which FTX Regions you may need to have installed before using the airport.

Just click Add to Cart.

Now your shopping cart is displayed showing your purchase.

You can continue shopping to add more products by pressing the Not Done? Continue Shopping  button.

For now though, let's pay for YBRM and get it onto our PC.

In this example I'm using a Visa Credit card.

Click on Pay with Card

13.jpg

When your details are complete, click  Submit Payment  and your card details will be validated.

It usually only takes between 5-10 seconds to authorise the transaction.

Once payment is authorised OrbxDirect will talk to FTX Central and your product will be ready to install.

FTX Central now shows YBRM Broome International added to your collection with the text "Not Installed" above its image.

14.jpg

Click on the product image  to view the installation options

Now you either click  Install Product  or choose the  Installation Options

17.jpg

Installation options allow you to save a backup of YBRM which you can use at a later time to re-install it.

fi_2.jpg

Let's just install it now, so when you click  Install Product  you'll see a download progress bar.

FTXC will check for your license on the server, then start the download.

15.jpg

Once the download is complete (and you'll be happy with the quicker download speeds from FTXC), you can then click on the

product image to view its Control Panel, User Guide or Uninstall options.

If any of the tabs are greyed out, it is because the product does not have that option.

This version of YBRM Broome International does not have a control panel.

So there you have it; a quick run through of how you create an OrbxDirect account, transfer your FSS licenses, install FTX Central

V3 and make your first purchase from the new store.

Here's the key differences between this versus the old system:

  • You never have to leave FTX Central or OrbxDirect to purchase, configure or download products
  • Installation of products is all done in the background automatically
  • Everything is linked to your OrbxDirect account and is automated
  • You literally make a few clicks and go fly - now that's progress :)

Over the coming days and weeks we will add some video tutorials and continue to update the FAQ topic.

Edit: Jordan King just published his excellent overview video of FTXCv3 and OrbxDirect:

Hi Nick,

Warm greetings to you as always.

Could I make a suggestion, that rather than a pinned FAQ in the general FAQ's, JV's excellent Step-by-Step Guide for OD and FTXCV3,  be pinned "prominently" in the Forum as its "Own Header", as it would seem to be the most important gateway to beginning any customers Orbx journey. :)

One thing I forgot for sake of Orbx newbies such as me,  are Orbx base packages supposed to be below or top of Orbx airport sceneries, please? And can you post the answer to this question on this thread's original post maybe accompanied by screenshot showing list of sceneries in FSX's add on scenery list?

Regards,

Let FTXC take care of that automatically , it will place the scenery in the correct order for you .
