Stillwater
Dear all, I miss the two icons mentioned in the title in my P3Dv4.1 instalment. With the whole OZx active I only see this over Derwent river: Does anybody else have the same phenomenon? Or even have a cure for this?
teecee
You are not alone in this mate.. I have had this problem for ages and I only run V3.4. Tried everything I know and cannot get these two to show up.. I hope you have success in this. Terry.
Nick Cooper
It looks to me as if the bridge is there but that the model is not visible. I see a row of flying street lamp standards during the day. Aren't we given to understand that there is to be a new version of this part of the world? EDIT: I had an idea and this is the result. I have attached the file. Put it into ORBX\FTX_AU\FTXAU45_SCENERY\scenery and let it overwrite the existing one. I regret that I have no idea where to find the Wrest Point Casino, if there is a model of it, it might benefit from the same treatment. tasmanbr.bgl
Stillwater
Got it, @Nick Cooper, the iconic bridge is back! So this part of the gaps is perfectly closed. Regarding Wrest Point: I have seen it completely in my first days flying in FSX. One day it lost its surface and became just a "tubular" structure [I am not sure if this was when changing to DX10, naturally with Steve´s fixer]. Now with p3dv4 I lost it totally. In my Orbx folder I only find 2 files with "wrest" in it (probably like you do): - Orbx_Library_Hobart_wrestpoint.bgl - Orbx_Library_Hobart_wrestpoint_cc.bgl Both files are dated 21. Dec 2007. May it be they are DX9 and not showing up properly in DX10 or DX11?
Nick Cooper
Hello, here is the casino which I found using FSX Earth Tracker. It looks like driving off the ferry could be tricky. The attached files also go into ORBX\FTX_AU\FTXAU45_SCENERY\scenery Orbx_Library_Hobart_wrestpoint.bgl Orbx_Library_Hobart_wrestpoint_cc.bgl
teecee
Thanks for the files Nick..I have been trying to get Wrest Point and the bridge to show up for ages to no avail.. Your files fixed Wrest point, and I thank you very much for that..The bridge is still missing, but no matter..a 50% win is well worth having.. Terry. Nick Cooper
Hello Terry, did you put the bridge file in? It's the same type of model and the same fix. Download link
Stillwater
Thanks @Nick Cooper, with these 2 replaced files the Wrest Point is back in my sim again (after years...)! Both issues solved. 8 hours ago, Nick Cooper said: It looks like driving off the ferry could be tricky. ... indeed. But who needs to pay the ferry now that the bridge has been rebuilt ? teecee
Got them both showing up now Nick, after more than a year without them.. Thanks for you time and effort with this.. I truly did not expect to ever find a fix for this problem.. Terry.
paj
I too just discovered the missing Tasman Bridge and Wrest Point Casino. (At the time I was attempting to demonstrate just how accurate my flight simulator was to my visiting Hobart relatives! :O) I overwrote the 3 files (which already existed in my P3D4.2 Orbx install) with those versions above and these iconic landmarks reappeared. Thanks!
corinoco
The same issue happened to the Three Sisters at Katoomba. I really hope there's a new new FTX Australia coming out soon - the original is starting to look quite out of date!

I have "only" managed to see them in RL, and tried to replicate the view in FSX, with no success. I am sure they would (as the balcony in the Grampians) need a special treatment, like Frank did for Yosemite or the Monument Valley.
corinoco
Hi Stillwater, They are in the OrbX folders (ORBX\FTX_AU\FTXAU25_SCENERY\scenery\ORBX_3sisters.bgl and associated texture) and you can convert this to a DX11 BGL format using ModelConverterX, but the model is very basic, and in the wrong place. I went a step further and created my own model from a digitised model and images. It was hosted on the AussieX site, but as that is not available - so here it is! Drop it into your Addons folders and add Three_Sisters to your scenery paths. It's intended to work with ORBX / FXGlobal | HolgerMesh - not guaranteed with other meshes. Nick Cooper
Hello, I have converted the Orbx model, as with the other two. If you would like to have six sisters, it is attached. ORBX_3sisters.BGL
Stillwater
Wow, so many sisters today - and I had already given up the hope for Three of them. I´ll try Nicks version asap!
corinoco
I'd like to point out mine are in the correct spot! The OrbX version is placed on Sublime Point, which is about 2km too far east.
Jethro VH-JET
Hi corinoco, Are your Three Sisters only for P3Dv3 & V4x, I am trying them in FSX but they aren't showing, not even a hint of the PR formations can be seen. I do however have the Orbx ones showing in the wrong location as seen in Nick's screen shot. I have AU Holgermesh and have also tried with and without FreemeshX Australia & Oceania + Patches but still not showing, much appreciated if you could give me some pointers, do I need to change the DXT format on the PR texture (master texture v2a.dds) for the three ugly sisters to make an appearance in FSX. corinoco
Hi Jeff, Yes, I compiled these for P3Dv4.x I don't have FSX loaded at the moment, I'll reload it tomorrow so I can export the FSX version for you.
Jethro VH-JET
Thankyou corinoco that would be excellent. would be great to have them looking so good and in the right location.
corinoco
Hi Jeff, Attached is the FSX version of the BGL. It should look like it does in the images above - I don't have FSX installed to test it. Also attached is a variant texture - I'm not sure I like my original. You'll have to rename the texture in the install folder to try the new one out. three_sis_FSX.zip master texture v3.dds
Jethro VH-JET
Many thanks corinoco, champion of the Megalong Valley. Beautiful work, they sit so nicely into the sim. I settled on the texture in the (three_sis_FSX.zip) posted above, as I couldn't get the (master texture v3.dds) to appear when I swapped it out. I tried both but am extremely impressed with the ( master texture v2a.dds) FSX version. I can tell you that I am very thankful for these files which make flights over the Megalong Gorge into YKAT a magnificent sight. These pics are with the FSX version of your above files, FreemeshX Australia & Oceania enabled, I have also disabled the 2 Orbx files for the original FSX Three Sisters (ORBX_3sisters.bgl & ORBX_Katoomba_Three_Sisters_PLC.bgl) for a better overall reality with your new sisters, didn't think 6 sisters would work, it might confuse the locals let alone the tourists, LOL.
