Pepperman
I intend to buy an Orbx region, the one with Las Vegas and Los Angeles. If and when I buy and install that region, do I disable the Las Vegas scenery that ships with FSX or does the new Orbx scenery place a new Las Vegas instead and I don't need to do anything? What do I do in that regard? I intend on getting all the west coast sceneries and so this scenery issue will apply to other cities in the regions I purchase. Do I go into the add on scenery folder and delete the add ons that I have in that region befoer I install the region? Also do the edges of a region blend nicely with the surrounding area that is not a purchased region? I do not know since I have never purchased a region before. pmb
That's all done automagically, no need to disable anything from default. It's another game if you use, e.g. Aerosoft Las Vegas, or similar 3rd party addons. There are threads in the compatibility forum for most 3rd party addons. Kind regards, Michael

Kind regards, Michael With an exception if you purchase the Southern California Regional Scenery as the following extract from the scenery notes show. You should deactivate the "Edwards_AFB" entry as FTX NA SCA includes much larger and more recent photoreal coverage of the Air Force Base (KEDW). Deactivating the "Las Vegas" entry is optional; the default photoreal coverage doesn't blend well with the surrounding SCA landclass textures but better matches the location of the default casino models and also has brighter nightlighting. pmb
Thank Ian, I confess I didn't read (...and follow) this. For Las Vegas I use the Aerosoft version. Kind regards, MIchael

The trick is to find them as it is impossible to absorb everything. Kind regards Ian
Pepperman
Thanks for the replies. I guess I take from this is that I should deactivate 3rd party scenery cities since it will be replaced by the newer better Orbx cities. Also I was wondering if all Orbx regions blend with the surrounding non Orbx areas. They must blend very well, probably better than some 3rd party stuff. Is that correct? I would expect that from Orbx that the blending between regions and non regions happens nicely. Right? If that is so…then I will start my buying soon. Please let me know. Thanks. gotjackson
I recently purchased five regions and also have global and vector installed. Orbx blends areas better than any scenery I have ever seen.

Last night I flew from OrbX Norway to Sweden to determine this very thing and it was not easy to find the exact change line. Each level of OrbX products add realism to the sim. I only fly in OrbX regions because of the excellent quality. Flew in Switzerland during the week and had to get another package for that country as I was so used to OrbX region quality. I hope Switzerland will be done after Germany!

I believe you won't have to wait too long, at least for the northern half.

Pepperman
Hello Well I did make a decision and purchased Pacific North West. I installed it and flew out of Vancouver. Loved it. I'm sure other smaller airports will be great. Then I thought hey lets fly out of Seattle Tacoma…from whence came one of my favourite TV shows Frasier. To my surprise, I find my plane on the runway ready to take off except the plane is surrounded by mountains not 4 feet away all the way around!!!! Oh my. I can't beleive it. I have no mesh installed anywhere in the planet. Please…can anyone help. This is the first Region I purchase from Orbx… Thanks Pete.
Nick Cooper
Hello, You need only go to the Vector Control panel and disable AEC for KSEA.
Pepperman
Thanks so much. I did and it worked. Ill remember for next time. Sorry about not remembering to do that. I bought Northern California….it looks great. One thing you may have an anwser for. I had messed up my fsx and so I completely erased my drive and re installed fsx and all the Orbx stuff including the 2 regions NCA and Pacific northwest. Everything works well except that I have aircraft traffic at any large airport….non at all whether the airport is in canada or the US!! Even though I have the traffic slider almost all the way up and I have no airplane shadow on the ground….still no planes at airports cueing up to take off. I did before I re installed everything. I do get vehicle traffic on the highways and roads. How can I fix this? Thanks. Pete.
Pepperman
Just to add to my previous post. I have in my scenery world scenery folder: trafficAircraft.bgl trafficBoats.bgl and trafficCarriers.bgl . I also have 9 airport specific Traffic files for the Orbx free add on scenery such as Traffic_Bowerman.bgl I do not have any third party traffic product or files installed. I do not however have simply a file called traffic.bgl What do I do now? Am I missing the file … traffic.bgl? Is that the cause of the problem and if so, where do I get that file? Thanks. Pete. Taph
AI will stop working if you have any FS9 traffic files, there is a tool created by don grovestine which can identify which are FS9 files and convert them to FSX ones to cure the problem http://stuff4fs.com/newpage.asp?JS=True&Folder=AIFP good luck
