Rob Newman
Hi all... With the testing of OpenLC NA Alaska/Canada under full swing, here are a few comparison shots to remind you of what we used to have (FSX Default), what we have now (FTX Global Base, FTX Vector, FSGlobal 2010 Mesh), and lastly what we have to look forward to (the whole lot including OpenLC NA ). As you can see, OpenLC does something a little more than just Landclass data... Better variation and regional textures, better landclass, and better definitions of cities, glaciers etc. But decide for yourself... These are all taken with straight V key, FSX-Steam Edition running Windows 10.
Ripcord
The last two examples showed the most noticeable change with the addition of Open LC AK/Can.
Rob Newman
Some of the changes, particularly in the wilderness areas can be quite subtle... mostly in these areas, it adds variety and touch of regionality that isn't quite there in the FTX Global textures alone. Such as the first two examples... the rock faces on cliffs are darker and more typical of the area, and the islands and fjords have the barren, tundra look as opposed to the forested hillside appearance. But yes... the biggest noticeable changes will be in agricultural, urban and the larger plains areas

FrancoisB
That looks very good. What really caught my eye is that also the mountains look substantially better and not just a blanket of trees without any added features. I was afraid that the mountains would be rushed, but this clearly proves that this is not the case. To really notice the difference, you need to see the mountains side-by-side: Thanks for these excellent comparison shots Rob, every, very useful!
