I actually lived in Barstow for awhile but moved east to the metropolis of Yermo for a couple of years when I worked for PT&T. We both grew up on the high desert and it has a beauty all of it's own. I was in downtown New York City last week and it REALLY made me miss the wide open spaces of the Mojave.
