  1. I had hoped to use an A380 for a flight from Narita to Hong Kong, but a hybrid MSFS version has been pulled.

The 787 is a worthy long haul replacement.

This is a morning  departure from Narita

Still breathing normally, luckily. Sorry for not having posted for some time here. I was busy with another project that had kept me from flying very often

He who retires is suddenly busier!!:)

    Cheers

  3. I've had Narita at the back of my mind for awhile now as it is a handy jumping off place for excursions into Asia.

But the discretionary budget has been tight.

However, the Black Friday Sale with RJAA 50% off tipped my hand, & there are plenty of other bargains in the Sale.

This is a PMDG DC-6A on its way in from RJTT.

Not a long flight, but it let me get a look at Narita on the approach.

It is a vast airport & looks to have been well crafted.

  4. If you head due North out of Garm Airport, Rasht, in Tajikistan, you will soon cross parallel mountain ranges about 16,000' high that run roughly East to West..

Shots taken initially in the morning, then at dawn, & I used SoFly UK Frosty Morning to get the snow.

  5. Tried 'Before & After' flights from OPQT, (Quetta, Pakistan), to OIZH (Zahedan, Iran) to see what the new Himalaya & Central Asia mesh can do.

Shots were taken about 15 miles North West of Quetta, not mountainous country. Same time of day, (8.35am).

AHM (After Himalaya Mesh installed) The changes are subtle in some instances, but the AHM central mountains in the distance have a bit more

    cragginess to them. IMHO :)

  6. 'Himalaya & Central Asia' Mesh. Where have I read that before?:)
BVFM product. (Brilliant value for money)

I think the coverage map in the DK post November 9, 2021 should be added to the product page screen shots to show the magnitude of the coverage. If I was not interested in flying in the Himalaya, but in other regions, say Afghanistan, then the coverage map would open my wallet.

    NBMB: (No brainer must buy):)

Maybe a complement to my post.

The nice screenshots upthread should not let you think that this is all about great landscapes over peaks and ridges. Looking.  And then what ? You can’t spend your life gaping at Mount Everest !

    This is about flying  !

For millenia, this region has been inhabited and crossed by trade roads in the valleys and the high altitude plains (yes, there are plains too ;)) and deserts.

It has been and still is, for geographical reasons,   a strategic buffer disputed between the Russian and British empires then now between China and India.

The aircraft have replaced the dromaders and there are quite a few airports. Some easy, some not...  Most really interesting.  A multitude of flights.

Set up your Neofly FBO in Gilgit, Leh, Dibrugarh, Dushanbe or Putao, you’ll see.

    Off to the Hindu Kush!

If the mesh is as good as the New Zealand product, then I anticipate seeing improvements in not only the high mountain peaks , but also for low hills & anywhere there is vertical differentiation across an area.

    I noticed that in NZ.

If I interpret your grid correctly & the 10m resolution in the product is going to be applied from Pakistan, up to Kazakhstan, across to Mongolia & down through China, back to Pakistan via India, including everything in between, then that is a massive area benefitting.

If that is the case, perhaps it should be called something like 'Himalaya & Central Asia mesh'.:)

  10. Bit slow to get to this recent release.

Straight off the bat let me say that  Matteo has prepared a very detailed & worthy addition to Orbx's Mediterranean catalog.

A must have if you fly the Mediterranean countries.

The following are shots from around the airport at different times of the day.

Waiting to depart, in something slow.

    sk-1.jpg

Looking back, with the old town back behind the aircraft?

    sk-2.jpg

Dusk shot showing other islands scattered about

    sk-3.jpg

    Headed for the old town.

    sk-4.jpg

Old town at dawn. I was trying to get the light on to the church in the middle of the shot.

Terracotta tile manufacturers must love this place!

    sk-5.jpg

On approach from the old town side of the peninsula.

    sk-6.jpg

    Same approach, closer in.

    sk-7.jpg

    Arrival lounge, taxi ranks.

    sk-8.jpg

Matteo's attention to detail was very noticeable. What caught my eye here was that the fan in 1 of the 2 aircon units on the roof, lower center of the shot,

    was rotating!

    sk-9.jpg

    More detail.
