  1. Since upgrading my PC, I've done a few longer sessions flying, and I've noticed performance degradation over a longer session, so for example today I've flow EGKK-LFBD-EGKK with no issues then I am currently doing EGKK-EGPF-EGLL and I'm noticing it's not as smooth as the first rotation, I'm noticing a bit of stuttering, not unbearable, but not smooth.

    Has anyone experienced this before?

Edit : I've been monitoring task usage, and my CPU seems to be peaking at 100%, I am guessing this is the issue?

    Thanks

    Joe

Nothing wrong in getting companies behind the movement to stop piracy. Although with Aerosoft, all their products get stolen by piracy thieves, they have the ability to be in-game marketplace only but choose not to because "lack of features." They would rather lose money than make money.

MSFS has the ability to inject code via WASM, they just need a good coder/developer to do it properly.

You are acting like Orbx is a team full of idiots, they'll have coders who can implement it, they chose not to for whatever reason and that's not your problem, going Marketplace exclusive is completely wrong, as people told you at aerosoft. All companies will have discussed this constantly, if they chose to do nothing then it's there decision

Also don't make sweeping statements like "They would rather lose money than make money" because you don't know if that's true, there's a lot of people who won't use the Marketplace ever so Orbx will lose a fair chunk of money if they go marketplace exclusive as well as the automatic 35% ish to MS

  3. This may come across blunt but you are going to get the same response myself and others gave to you on the Aerosoft forum last year when you said the same thing to them.

It's not your issue, yes I feel bad for devs putting all the time and effort in, only to have it pirated by certain people, but the only thing you can do is buy from legitimate means. Orbx like Aerosoft are not stupid when it comes to business and I am sure that Orbx look regularly at how to best protect there products and don't really need posts like this because they will be aware of it

(and for me it comes across as you speaking down to devs just like you got called out for at aerosoft)

  4. A quick update for any interested, I've upgraded to 64GB and it seems to have fixed my issues, I can now fly into big 3rd party airports without them becoming slideshow presentations.

Bring on the onslaught of new tubeliners over the next few months!

No I didnt, they are "throwback thursday" product and the quality sucks, name one that was natively produced for MSFS with the quality expected in 2022.

I’m going to remove myself from this discussion because I only wanted to suggest a reason as in my OP, and you’ve dragged it to this and secondly you’ve proven naivety in assuming my flight sim experience based on one date and proven you don’t do any research as if you did you’d know only 4 products (maybe 5) were released as Throwback Thursday’s and they were EGHI, EGPB, 1W6 and PAKT of which none are on my list. Also you have attempted to move the goal posts by saying “name one that was natively produced for MSFS with the quality expected in 2022” that was never the point…the original point of this discussion was you saying Orbx haven’t released any small airports, obviously I’ve proved you wrong and you’re trying to find a new angle

Looking at your profile you are very new too Orbx so you really havent been here from the beginning, so now it makes sense for me why you have the opinion you have. I guess, someone like me who been here many years and watched Orbx grow over the years are more dissapointed because we dont recognize the company we once very huge fans of.

Don’t assume, makes you look stupid, I’ve been simming since FS2002, and using Orbx since FSX, I took a break from simming in 2017 ish and returned in 2020 when MSFS released, hence I only created a forum account when I did, I am well aware of where Orbx came from but I know first hand that Orbx have created bigger airports for a long time, I know this from having all the Aussie airports created way back for FSX, so it’s not like it’s a MSFS thing where they jumped from one to the other (as you’ve made it out to be) yes I agree that Orbx seem to shifted more towards the larger airports and I get that annoys you but you seem to fail to realise that there’s a reason for this. And also neglected that Orbx have still made smaller airfields for MSFS albeit not as many as previous sims

All of these are non commercial airports and all but a couple could be classed as small GA airfields - it all depends what you class as a small GA field

Also with regards to navigraph, yes it is geared towards commercial flyers but the survey is open to everyone in the community and is well publicised so you can’t complain that GA flyers don’t have a voice, after all it’s surveys like this along with market data that shape what companies create

  8. If you look at the Navigraph Survery from last year the majority of responses were for flying commercial airliners albeit there was a sizeable amount for SEP flying as well

However if you couple this with  the fact that Orbx releases of small GA airfields are few and far between, it doesn’t take a business genius to work out that the small GA fields they’ve released aren’t selling as well or enough to warrant the further production of new airfields.

Well Orbx succes was built around making these airports and it was what made Orbx so special, so I dont belive they make a loss, but I guess they dont make enough for the greedy bean counters....

It made the success 15 years ago when the company was founded, back then I believe JV and the devs were part time and created for the love, now the company seems to be a lot bigger and even has a full executive team behind it, times change and it's obvious not many people want small GA airfields for MSFS otherwise they would be created.

These days I buy more from other devs than Orbx because I dont see a point just buying Orbx anymore like I used too, because they are not unique anymore. Im really sad for the direction Orbx has taken.

That's obviously your opinion - I still think Orbx creates some of the best airports for MSFS but also I am happy that they seem to be taking on more 3rd party devs as it gives me a chance to buy and supports dev I wouldn't be able too without Orbx (or contrail)

Also it's very hard to be unique anymore in flight sim anymoree, you call it sad but you don't say why?

And yes, I expect them to make these small gems that no one else make.

Well others do make small airfields, like NorthenSkyStudios make small airports in Alaska and Hawaii and there's multiple freeware options for MSFS that is hard to compete with so no Orbx isn't the only one that makes them.

the small aiports in places nobody heard of with nice athmosphere and all the flows are gone

From Anna's roadmap update, I seem to get the feeling that these airports don't tend to sell/make a loss, so you still expect them to make them?

  11. Hey All,

I finally found the time to look into to my RAM upgrade and think I've found a solution that works, but just would like to clarify it will, thanks,

    My motherboard is a ROG STRIX Z390-F Gaming, and the tech specs says for memory;

    4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR4 4266(O.C.)/4133(O.C.)/4000(O.C.)/3866(O.C.)/3733(O.C.)/3600(O.C.)/3466(O.C.)/3400(O.C.)/3333(O.C.)/3300(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666/2400/2133 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory

Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)

    Dual Channel Memory Architecture

    * Hyper DIMM support is subject to the physical characteristics of individual CPUs.

I am have found this RAM, https://www.currys.co.uk/products/corsair-vengeance-pro-rgb-ddr4-3600-mhz-pc-ram-16-gb-x-2-10219023.html

From looking at the MB specs it looks like it will support the RAM I've found (I've highlighted what I think is important) but I would like someone with tech knowledge to clarify if I am right/wrong

    Thanks

    Joe

I think I am on the understanding that coders working for Orbx all have the same skills in terms of creating addons. You are correct, there will be some skilled at aircraft, whilst others are better at airports, some better working with photoreal terrain and others are modellers... It isnt silly though to have a MSFS team, an Xplane team and a P3D team... maybe I am over estimating how many employees around the world Orbx has.. I know they have offices all over the world and from the videos they show, it looks to be quite heavily staffed.. maybe it was just for the video though.. again, I am coming from the view of ANY business putting all their eggs in one basket, is a bad business move... in this case, putting their entire future on MSFS, one sim... which currently they are not as they still release for other sims... you must admit though, the priority is MSFS  though.. which I get... that is fine.. Im simply stating with the money made, create teams so all the sims get their projects moved forwards rather than have a group wait years for a release with promises broken. or rather past roadmaps unfulfilled.

I get where you're coming from. I've just checked and it says Orbx has around 30 staff and I'd guess only half of these are developers and the rest are anna, ed, finance etc, maybe if they expanded they could go into separate teams but then it's whether P3D and XPL sales would be sustainable enough to support there own teams going forward

What's the use buying it. Orbx will just sell it to MS or include it in a WU like they have been doing with some of their other Citypacks and it'll be there for free in an upcoming world update. I've purchased ALL the citypacks released so far but this business practice just leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. And no, the Netflix analogy doesn't cut it for me. Thanks but I'll pass.

You're acting like it's common place, it's only happened with Frankfurt

  14. I've spent the majority of my life in England but spend a couple of years on the Isle of Man and Cyprus (RAF posting), I'd go back to Cyprus, I enjoyed as a child starting school at 7am and finishing at 1pm. I've also spend a fair bit of time in Caribbean and enjoyed the laid back life over there (and the extremely light blue seas)

Other than that, Australia really tempts me to move down under, but I would also like to spend a few years state side although not sure where as there's many places I like the idea of
