Somehow to me, setting up a Discord page, changing the logo, etc. appear to be detracting from the purpose of Orbx -- developing scenery for the sims it supports.  I know doing MSFS stuff is easier than P3d and XP, but the company seems to be paying more attention to corparatism than its core business.  YMMV.

Orbx has no doubt grown since it's inception and it's grown big enough to have a commercial team, of which they will be the ones setting up a discord, changing the logo etc, not the developers, every company will/have changed their logo in there life span, just like in the late noughties most companies set up a social media presence on twitter and facebook, the time has now come from discord. If Orbx wasn't releasing software or replying to support (which they're doing both) I would agree. I don't get why people have issues with companies doing normal company things especially when they're not detracting from their core business...

  2. @Mawson, I completely agree with you, the last think ASOBO/MSFS need is MS puling the plug like they did with FSX, I hope they do continue to develop it, I take hope it that they will as Asobo currently have 14 open vacancies for the MSFS team. The other good thing with MSFS that I haven't seen since probably FS9 is the freeware market leading to the talent at FBW/WT

I have been interested in using X-Plane for a while, they have some aircraft I want to fly, that even P3D doesn't have but I struggle to justify the cost of having two sims (maybe in a couple of promotions ;)

Which ever sim you use and which ever way you cut it, thankfully the flight sim world has a good future ahead.

many of the ASOBO MS promises and timelines are just vapourware at the moment and there is a long way to go. It concerns me that leaders like PMDG are still holding back, you have to wonder why .... don't you?

You have a few good points, I exclusively use MSFS now and really do miss my PMDG hanger and am really looking forward to having them back in MSFS, one thing to note is you said PMDG are still holding back, as of RR last post he said "it's beginning to accelerate nicely" with MSFS development, and with this they showed a preview of the DC-6 in MSFS (on a different thread)

I have MSFS and a few other sims and will continue like many others to do the same though there are some first time sim users here and they don't know what MSFS is missing and a good part of that is 20 years of third party development . MSFS may catch up but its not caught up yet and that's my point in disagreeing that X Plane and to a lesser extent  P3d are obsolete.

Since MSFS released I have been an advocate of use any sims you want, I don't get people who are MSFS vs P3D vs X-Plane, and neither of the latter 2 are obsolete as they both are miles ahead of MSFS in terms of 3rd Party Aircraft as you say, (I also don't get the people who thought that MSFS would have a full suite of PMDG, FSLabs, QW, Aerosoft, *IniBuild's* etc on or just after release)

Orbx like every other flight simulator company have decided what the future for them is and in most cases it's MSFS, still like Mawson said P3D and X-Plane are not obsolete yet, but I'm interested to know what we will be saying in 5 years time

But in MSFS default is already good

The base scenery is good away from airports, but the default airports are not good, better than they were in FSX but still dreadful, maybe I am wanting my sim to be ultra realistic but I can only fly to and from payware airports.

As for the 23 for MSFS, 9 for P3D, and 3 for XP, Orbx as a company are smart and like someone else has said, they are focusing there resources where the sales will be, and at the minute MSFS leads the sales charts.

Yes, I understand that.  I was a tester for MSFS.  Didn’t like it, all I got from them was game, game, game on the testing team and forums.  I like simulators not games.  Sorry my friend, no offense.

No offense taken :) I've been using sims for 15+ years (FS2002 through to MSFS, including various P3D iterations) I agree it felt more like a game at the start but now is a different story, and will be again when PMDG etc rolls out the hanger, it's defiantly becoming more like a sim (a few more things added and it'll be better than FSX was).

I'm having a bit of a grumpy day at work, and probably took your comment the wrong way, as others have said, hopefully in future dev teams will develop for both sims as people use both

and a Perth Cityscape and it's stable mate of GA Jandakot.

Perth is home to the B787 direct to London and Auckland so I would have thought it would have been a must do for MSFS.

Perth is being done by an Orbx Partner for MSFS

It’s fine with me, I don’t use MSFS, just P3D.

Not others ;) I gave up P3D for MSFS so would like to it MSFS as well

Very soon. We're inviting quite a few people every day, so it won't be long until everyone has access.

The Navigraph integration allows you to see fixes, navaids, airways, etc in our map. You will still need the Navigraph Charts app to view the airport and procedure charts

Thanks for the info Ben, really looking forward to using this
