Just want to apologise for my posts today surrounding MSFS/P3D, I am aware I am very opinionated and couple with other personal issues, I realise I probably came across combative. Sorry for if I offended anyone, I honestly believe in 2021 we are in the best place we have ever been in flight sim, with 3 amazing sims that will hopefully continue to improve and therefore push each other to better places and that we see support from 3rd party devs across all 3 platforms. I know I am part of the issue but I do hope eventually we'll see sim debates ending as all 3 can defiantly be used together. Joe

I would happily bet Orbx see similar results to this, and is reflected in there 2021 roadmap and releases being geared more towards MSFS, I'm not saying there's no demand for P3D but it's dwarfed compared to MSFS and even X-Plane, also this graph doesn't have numbers, for all we know P3DV5 could be 100 sales per product and MSFS 10000 per product Taking sims out of it Orbx has investors, investors Anna has to answer too, they probably don't care which sim Orbx develops for, investors main want is ROI (speaking from experience) and where's the best ROI coming from

Yes but no, yes Aerosoft don't really release for P3D, but they don't create them because there's very little demand, it's a typical catch-22,

Questions like these are not representative, because a) not everyone on the forum will vote (mostly not wanting to be involved in a disagreement) and b) the forum does not contain every single flight sim member, mathijs kok posted this the other day over at aerosoft "you make you money on the people who you never hear from", i.e us vocal people are not the only people in the hobby, the majority of customers, you will never hear from. I've attached a graph, it speaks for itself, after all sales for Orbx is the only thing that will keep them in business (graph is from Aerosoft, a flight sim company operating for over 25 years, and survived several flight simulator changes,)

All I'm saying is MSFS is a completely different simulator than last year, it goes through monthly updates that has massively improved the sim, and will continue to do so. As we both said, lets just see what happens going forward

You know what @xuehua china, I rather not discuss this anymore because 1) we're not going to agree, 2) you're mis-informed, the future of P3D is unclear, maybe they'll be a v6, maybe not but let's not forget P3D is a sim made for commercial customers, of which people abuse it by buying academic licences. Also P3D isn't going to be updated anywhere near the level MSFS is updated, never has, probably never will be. I still believe as I haven't seen otherwise, Microsoft still control aspects of P3D, even though LM is the developer, similar to how Asobo develops MSFS, so Microsoft control both and won't have 2 competing sims in a niche market. You'll probably see P3D becoming a commercial only sim and academic licences being scrapped At the end of the day, @Stillwateris bang on with his assessment at the minute both sims have good things for the future, all I'm doing is questioning the future of development for P3D, and according to Mathijs Kok, and other devlopers who are becoming more and more MSFS exclusive, the future for P3D isn't looking great. Hell even RSR at PMDG has said the reason they will/would only carry on support for P3D is because of the big paying commercial customers, not the average person. Look at the moment flight simulation, is in a good place MSFS, P3D and X-Plane, and I'm happy for that, whether this will be the case in 1/2/5/10 years who knows, lets agree to disagree and carry on using our choice of sims, as they are all very capable of doing what they are meant to,

@Captain Lars, firstly if you took my comments as Orbx shouldn't develop Asia, sorry I didn't mean that. Of course it's a good thing Orbx are still developing for P3D, my question is how long for. MSFS is the future (whether people like it or not), I say this as the official word from Aerosoft (i.e. the biggest flight sim dev/publisher) have said sales for P3D have tanked i.e. next to nothing, Orbx may be seeing different but how can companies develop for P3D if it's no longer commercial viable? Secondly the polls, both polls are significantly outdated , your poll was released what 2 months after release when the sim was no where near the point it now, and the navigraph one which is probably more accurate as it has a larger sample of people, is again out of date, a navigraph poll late this year will be more accurate. Just a point the P3D user base at it's height had 30,000 users (according to aerosoft) where MSFS has sold around 2 million copies pre xbox release, so yes the MSFS user base dwarfs the P3D user base. @xuehua china, same points to you, I'm not saying there's not a market for Asia, there is, albeit a small (and a getting smaller market), you obviously don't like or want to use MSFS and that's fine, but please stop writing incorrect and outdated facts about MSFS as you obviously haven't used it recently, there IS accurate real time weather and is still being improved, that stament was true months ago, but not now. Also there is accurate aircraft models. there's the CRJ, DC-6, just flight's PA28 and the fairly decent FBW A320neo, before you say study level, as it stands PMDG's 737NG3 will release in the next couple of months, with the 777 potentially releasing this year, and the 747 by Q2 2022, we also have the QW 787 releasing soon and a study level A320 just been announced. As well as others Gentleman, this conversation is pointless and not needed, at the end of the day, as I said, people can use any and all sims currently on the market. OpenLC Asia is still in development, that's all that matters for this thread, all I was questioning is the longevity of development for P3D

This sim comparing is annoying now, especially when xuehua is completely incorrect, the points made are very outdated and proven wrong. That being said at least Orbx develops for both sims (for how long who knows) just be grateful P3D is getting some attention as other devs are becoming MSFS only. End of the day use whatever sim you want, people still use FSX, so P3D is still a viable option, just like MSFS is viable as a sim “that can fly a full route”, P3D probably will receive less attention going forward as the already tiny P3D user base continues to decrease

Forgot about the GC, looking at adelaide screenshots and watching the aviationlads youtube trailer, it looks good. Hopefully as NZA Sim is a partner they'll do a few more of the bigger AU/NZ airports (and we have NZAA coming in August)

I agree, although I think we're nearly there for major airports, we need Melbourne, Cairns, Canberra, and Perth (although there is Anoxos's version) and then the smaller Airports like Broome, Alice Springs etc

I remember seeing (although cannot find the post) where they said this preview thread was months earlier than the normal 2-3 weeks before to show a bit more development. Also Marcus has said it was being delayed till after the Nordic Updates and that he was taking a sabbatical (which he could still be on)

I think more people don’t want this feature oppose to those who do. At the end of the day, if you’re that bothered knowing what you spent. Do want you did and work it out. There’s a big issue with having a total cost as well, it probably won’t take discounts into account and I know I personally bought quite a few items in sales etc, therefore haven’t spent as much as what would be published. From a personal point of view, you say it be nice for simmers old and new to know how much they spend, do smokers/drinkers/drug users keep tabs on their outgoings? Personally I don’t drink, smoke, do drugs, so flight sim is my only vice (and the gym) and as long as I don’t spend more than what is in my bank account I’m happy and I think the majority of flight simmers and smart enough in that sense too.

Very true...I must have spent close to £1000 alone since Christmas on MSFS (and countless more on FSX/P3D), but it doesn't seem bad when it's in £20-£40 instalments

I know this comment was a while back but now we have ESSA, I personally still think there's room for your/a payware ESSA. Don't get me wrong GAYA do great airports for the WU's but WU5's ESSA isn't as high quality as a payware equivalent (not that I was expecting it to be)

A way I've found (it was suggested to me after SU4 caused major CTDs because of the WASM modules) is to test in batches, i.e if you have 200 folders in your community folder, split them it 2 groups of 100 folders, put the first group back in your community folder, if the CTD occurs with the first batch, split those 100 folders into 2 batches of 50 folders, and then keep halving the batch of folders where the CTD occurs, sorry I can't explain better but if you have 200 folders in your community folder then you should only need to trail and error a maximum of 7/8 times oppose to 200. This is where add-on linker is good for finding the issues but after using the tool I prefer keeping things in my community folder

I realised afterwards I should take in easier at work, so I have more brain capacity for flight sim, after all only one of the two gives me enjoyment and satisfaction haha

I'm a bit of a muppet, I purchased LFBD on Monday and didn't notice there's a bundle for all 5 FranceVFR airports, is it possible to get a refund for the singular airport and repurchase the bundle or buy a bundle for the remaining 4? Thanks
