I just purchased the new Orbx YBBN Brisbane airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator and I have to say it looks absolutely fantastic...no problems with framerates either. Thanks to the development team.

For some reason, when I was flying landing at Brisbane always presented a problem to me.  Good luck with it anyway Condor.  I see you live there so I suppose its natural you would want a decent representation of your home airport.

While I am happy with the new runway and having an airport better than the default I have to say I too am disappointed with Brisbane. From a distance it looks good, but up close it starts to fall apart. Especially the Domestic terminal. I don't know if the developers were changed half way through or if they ran out of time/money but the different between the Domestic and International terminals is quite large. But even the International terminal has some faults such as layering issues with the ground markings.

For as long as this airport was in development (hell, apparently) I was expecting more. I had hoped that things like the jetways would work properly, that the markings on the ground would display correctly.

In addition, I have to say the texturing is somewhat of a mixed bag. Some of it seems new and decent quality and other textures are very low quality and make me wonder if it was a port from a different version

In addition to the previous post screenshot here are some more, spoiled for size.

Jetways too high for type of planes that land at Brisbane.

Spoiler

Guess the passengers have to jump into the plane?

Apparently Brisbane launches Saturn Vs? Because not even 747's are connecting to that jetway.

In correct layering for ground markings. The airline parking designations should be above the hash markings or like in the previous posts screenshots just missing all together. Also, extremely blurry.

I really hope that this is rectified, because I cannot really recommend this to my friends until it is fixed.

Hello,

this would appear to be a picture of the real world "Saturn V" jetway.

It seems to be in use on an A 380, rather than a space rocket.

Even so, it is not connecting to anything at the height it is in the game. It is nearly double the height of the 747 top passenger door, and A380's are pretty much the same height as a 747. So it may as well be for Saturn Vs.

All of the jetways are too high at the International terminal, they need to be lowered.

A320's which operate internationally between Australia and NZ, can't connect because the gates are too high as shown in my previous post.

The 787, which also operates here, is in the same boat.

Unfortunately there isn't an A380 in MSFS and as far as I can tell that jetway doesn't respond anyway, but we do have a 747 to try and compare. If this jetway worked and the plane was parked where it is supposed to be even then the downward angle on the jetway would significant, more than it is IRL. Compare the lower jetways with the height of the doors they connect then the upper one with the upper door, the overall angle isn't that steep on the lower doors while the upper door is a significant drop. Even the lower jetways in sim angle downwards when they don't IRL as seen in your image.

Upper level door height is pretty much the same.

One thing to note about jetways is they are current nowhere as near easy to control as they are in P3D, realistically MSFS needs SODE ASAP (and this is why only singular jetways can be operated). I haven't bought YBBN so I can't comment about the quality, so maybe the upper deck jetway needs lowering, maybe not. From my POV, there is a A380 in development but who knows how long it'll take to arrive, it be nice to have 3 operational jetways but it depends on a lot of things, from Asobo as well

My first idea was hurray... but I bought Gotheburg and Malmo for msfs already. Fooled me once... fooled me twice... read the different feedbacks for Brisbane... passed. I would gladly pay some more bucks to get the quality back Orbx was standing for in the past.  But the recent development is not what I expect for a product in msfs. And I'm not talking about fancy terminal internals or animated coffee corners. I'm talking about basic stuff like jetways. Others devs have clearly shown that custom and non standard jetways are doable and working nice. Even special ones like in Malmo and Gothenburg. See Trondheim for example.

Really sad about it...

Sorry

If so I will be directly installing the updates and be happy again then and will openely communicate that. BUT the thing with could not be animated on release is nonsense. I'm betatesting a lot of stuff for a well known other distributor and for example Trondheim had custom animated jetways comparable to Gothenburg and Malmo way before their releases. Anyhow, if they fix it all good and no need to leave bad feelings.

Thx for the info with the possible updates btw... missed that info...

Cheers

Just for transparency this was the full reply, someone asked if the jetways at ESGG would ever come alive,

"Yep, we have animated them even though current SDK does not really allow it. It's sort of a work around but very proud of what our dev was able to make. Was the same in FSX and P3D as well, luckily SODE came and gave us an option to add it that way instead.

It will be patched once Bromma is released, together with ESMS as well.

No working VDGS at the moment though"

I'm not sure about what can/cannot be done but at least animated jetways are coming, also Jo who created Trondheim, he does a lot of stuff I haven't see other devs do yet like the animated people at Bonaire
