0S9 Display Issues

Recommended Posts

Hello, took off from 0S9 tonight and it appears that half of the airport is missing and there is an area of autogen missing as well.  I've attached some images.  This is with the hotfix installed.

Thanks,

Dave

Indeed a long standing issue. I got exactly the same problem. Essential elements are missing. Tried almost anything (reinstall, objectflow in separate folder, verifying files, synchronize, etc). I hope someone will come with a definitive solution, else I think it should be flagged as non compatible with P3D v5 in the store.

Tried it, no luck. Location: C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\Orbx\FTX_NA\FTX_AA_0S9

Exactly the same picture as in the screenshots above.

Can you give some more info? Do you have Objectflow in a separate library and which version ( 3.0.4 ? )

Thanks.

Hi John,

Finally got it to work. You are right about the location. Into the P3d Orbx folder is fine. But I need a small workaround to make it work.
Everytime I have to deselect 0S9 in the scenery library in P3d. Then click Oke. The default scenery is then loaded. Then select 0s9 again in the scenery library en click oke. Then all is it has to be. Do you have an explanation for this behaviour. I also have enabled PNW region installed.

Thank for your suggestion.

The default C: program files location is a known problem, most people end up creating a separate folder preferably outside the C: drive altogether. If any scenery components are flagged with any sort of conditions in the default program files path Windows or the program will block the file. (that's my understanding anyway)

An example of rebuilding the scenery yourself to identify the cause of the error

Things to prepare

tmfviewer.exe - Prepar3D SDK

Airport Design Editor developers release latest version (ADE)

Model Converter X developers release latest version (MCX)

CvxExtractorGui.exe

Text editor (Notepad ++, etc.)

---------------------------

Open the root of the scenery, \ 0S9 Jefferson County International \ and check all folders and files roughly

Main folder
\ 0S9 Jefferson County International \ Orbx \ FTX_NA \ FTX_AA_0S9 \
Scenery folder
\ 0S9 Jefferson County International \ Orbx \ FTX_NA \ FTX_AA_0S9 \ Scenery \
Effects folder
\ 0S9 Jefferson County International \ Effects \
Sound folder
\ 0S9 Jefferson County International \ Sound \

Open the Sound and Effects folders and make sure they are related to environmental sounds and are unlikely to be the cause of ground representation errors.
To make it easier to find the cause of the error, create a subfolder named "off" in each folder and drop all the files there to disable it.

Ignore the following folders where the save file of the scenery setting exists for the time being.
\ 0S9 Jefferson County International \ Orbx \ Config \

Open script folder
G: \ Orbx \ p3dv5 \ 0S9 Jefferson County International \ Orbx \ Scripts \

Open orbx_cpl_0S9.xml here with a text editor and confirm that it is a file related to ObjectFlow.
This is mainly for people, flora and fauna, and ground vehicles, and it is unlikely to affect the ground display, so create an "off" folder here and drop it to disable it.

---------------------------

Open the scenery folder and check the files roughly

\ 0S9 Jefferson County International \ Orbx \ FTX_NA \ FTX_AA_0S9 \ Scenery \

Examples of the main file types that make up the scenery

1. Airfield file (.bgl) --Open with ADE

ORBX_0S9_APX.BGL

2.Exclusion file (.bgl) --Open the airfield file with ADE and load it with import bgl to display the exclusion settings.

000_ORBX_default_PNW_0S9_objects_flatten_EXC.BGL

3. CVX file (.bgl) --Can be visually confirmed with tmfviewer.exe.
Convert it to an xml file with CvxExtractorGui.exe and see the details in an editor, or convert it to a kml file and visualize it with Google Earth.

0S9_ADEX_SRA_CVX.bgl
CVX_ORBX_default_PNW_0S9_objects_flatten_EXC.BGL
ORBX_0S9_CVX.bgl

4. Mesh file (.bgl) --Can be visually confirmed with tmfviewer.exe.

mesh_FTX-PNW_LOD4-14_Olympic_Peninsula_NE_6ft-LIDAR.bgl

5. Photo scenery file (.bgl) --Can be visually confirmed with tmfviewer.exe.

ORBX_0S9_30cm.bgl
ORBX_0S9_60cm.bgl

6. GroundPolygon (GP) file (.bgl) --Open with MCX. Recompile is also possible with Ground Polygon Wizerd

ORBX_0S9_GroundPoly.BGL
ORBX_0S9_GroundPoly_Concrete.BGL

7. Object file (library) (.bgl) --Open with MCX.
The library contains multiple object files. The object file is .mdl, but it is used as the scenery file .bgl. Since the .mdl file is not a scenery, there is no object placement setting, but it is possible to set the placement for each object in the .bgl file. In some cases, the .bgl placement is set in other .bgl files (explained below).

ORBX_0S9_lib_objects_P3D.bgl
etc

8. Object placement file (.bgl) --Open the airfield file with ADE and load it with import bgl to check the placement position of the object.
Objects that appear as unknown are identified by registering the scenery folder with the ADE library tool.

ORBX_0S9_placement_objects.bgl
etc

9.ObjectFlow.xml is a script file that places Orbx animation objects.

---------------------------

Find the cause of the error.

Even though the scenery is elaborate, the file structure is basically simple.
If the logic should be correct but it doesn't work as expected, there's always an error somewhere.

Create a subfolder called "off" in the scenery folder and drop all files to empty them.
Return only the airfield file ORBX_0S9_APX.BGL from the off folder to the scenery folder.

Start P3D from 0S9.

Place the aircraft in Slew mode and Locked Spot in a location where you can easily see the scenery foreground, make sure there are no problem errors, and take a screenshot.

Move any one CVX file back from the off folder to the scenery folder. To reload the scenery, turn on / off the irrelevant scenery in World --Scenery from the P3D settings and press OK.

When the simulator restarts, make sure that the error you are looking for does not occur, take a screenshot again, and switch with the arrow keys in the image viewer to see the change in scenery.

Move the remaining CVX files back into the scenery folder one by one and reload and take screenshots to see the changes and errors in the scenery.

Add the Exclusion file, Mesh file, and photo scenery file in order by the same procedure, and check the situation.

Since the error of the problem does not occur so far, then move the GP file ORBX_0S9_GroundPoly.BGL back to the scenery folder.

An error occurs when reloading. This makes it more likely that the Ground Polygon file is the cause of the error.

------------------------

File modification

If you open ORBX_0S9_GroundPoly.BGL in the MCX and the settings don't seem to be particularly wrong, it could be a GP file compilation setting issue.

Export the two GP object files contained in the library ORBX_0S9_GroundPoly.BGL as v4.4 .mdl files with the MCX Export object.

Recompile with Ground Polygon Wizerd of MCX. Wizard exports as a scenery file.

Wizard settings

P3D v4.4 --checked
Slice polygons --checked
Group polygons --unchecked
Optimize reference point location --checked
.
Do the same for ORBX_0S9_GroundPoly_Concrete.BGL.

Since the two libraries contain six GP objects, refer to the placement settings of the original GP file in the Object placement of MCX and copy each setting.

Finally, restore the six scenery files as two libraries as needed.

Please don't make a noise. I'm being chased by the CIA. To tell the truth, I'm just unemployed.
