I'm also having problems with SoCal download

Like many others on this forum I am having problems downloading the South California software. Over the past two days I have followed the advice (after reading other threads) and restarted Orbx Central when the download hangs. I finally made it to the "download finished just cleaning up and backing up" stage when it hung again. I restarted it and it went back to 3 GB downloaded and started the whole process over again. Yes I've emptied the temp folder. I can't even do a manual download of the files as Orbx tells me that there isn't " a full download package available" or words to that effect. Is it your Central software at fault? I redownloaded and reinstalled Central but the file name and the change log shows it as 4.17 but when you run it, it says 4.18.

I have attached my Central log file to the message. I love the True Earth software but I am sick to death of trying to download it unsuccessfully. This will be the last time I buy regions from Orbx until I read in the forums that the download issue is no longer a problem.

I have a similar issue.

I have tried to download five times and each time it gets to about 51.4gb of download out of 53.84gb and then freezes................with about 12979 files converted. Extremely frustrating as it has effectively stopped me using my machine for 24 hours.

I have tried all the fixes suggested

I finally got a complete install but with errors. I have run Verify Files 4 times now but it still finishes with errors. That's it, I'm giving up. I'll come back in a couple of weeks when maybe they have sorted their systems out. Either the version 4.18 of Orbx Central is screwed or their servers cannot cope with downloads. Please, please sort out the manual download and I'll install it myself.

Log attached.

Scenery package download from Orbx Central cdn servers seems to be broken/their transfer rate is too small and content is not ok since verifying fails. No answer from any support regarding to this. This has probably nothing to do with the sceneries itself. Delivery process of product is broken. If nothing happend next 24hours I demand a refund.

After reading there was an Central upgrade to 4.19, I tried to upgrade.

1. When I ran Central it didn't update automatically.

2. When I manually clicked on the Upgrade button I was told that there were no updates available.

3. When I tried to download the install file from Orbx home page it told me the file name was xxx 4.1.7.exe.

What's going on? You can't even get the fixes to  work.

I've had nothing but trouble since purchase, couldn't download or install, I've done all suggested fixes/workarounds to no avail. I'm using  v4.1.9 and I still cant even get it past the preparing installation part before it hangs and turns Orbx central unresponsive, cant even do it via a manual download as apparently " a full download package isn't available"

Hello,

To the others who have replied to this thread, please create your own new topics as it is much easier to provide one-on-one support and troubleshoot your issue directly.

@Rover25 your issue appears unrelated to the download issues that were reported over the weekend. Instead, it appears there is an issue converting the ortho on your machine.

It appears that you were once opted-in to fastlane and are no longer. If you open Orbx Central and go to Settings, My Account, then press 'Opt-in' to fastlane. This will then update you to v4.1.9 when you next launch Orbx Central.

Your log file suggests that the ortho doesn't exist after the conversion process runs per file.

Earlier in the log file there appears to be an issue extracting files due to corrupt files, which may be causing this:

Can you try to delete these files, then open Orbx Central and press 'Verify Files'? It should fresh copies of those files which hopefully will extract and convert correctly.

Did you opt in to the fastlane?

No I didn't. I don't do Betas. I opened Central the other day and it just updated itself to 4.1.8 and now I can't even get to 4.1.9 which is promised to fix the problem.

Seriously guys, as I and others have said, love your software but seriously considering never purchasing another region from you (your airfields install fine) until you sort out this download issue.

Someone on the staff of either Orbx or this forum said that the developers would be back on Monday and would work on a fix. You do a major release on a Saturday and then everyone goes home for the weekend? C'mon! No one left behind to fix problems?

Nope. I have uninstalled Southern California software as I have no confidence in any of the files being correct. I won't be re-installing it until I read on the forums that every download is running smoothly.

You are suggesting that I opt in to the Fastlane program which specifically states that it can be unstable and not to use if your installation is important. (Sorry I'm not at that machine so I can't get a screenshot or a quote.)

Many, many people are having the same problem and yet you deduce that the fault is corrupt files on MY machine.

It's late here. Goodnight.

As I mentioned above, the issue in your case (based on the evidence I have in your log file) was that the backup .zips on your computer are corrupt. If you wish to resolve this issue, then I am willing to troubleshoot with you - the first steps of which are what I mentioned above.

@Rover25, Mitchell has told you the EXACT problem you're facing in post #9 above. Nothing will solve your problem other than following his instructions and deleting those files.

Your issue is not a problem with the download, nor the files on our server.

If you want 4.1.9, you can either opt-in to the beta, or wait until we deem it stable enough to release to the public. But, as I said above, that won't fix your issue.

Yes deleting corrupted backup zips which can be seen in log and verifying installation after that will works.

Could there be automatic file verifying in next releases. For example automatic file hash check instead of having manually delete corrupted zip files?

I was going to stay away from this forum but I couldn't let that one pass.

You say it is the corrupt files on my computer which are the problem, NOT the download. How do you think they got corrupted in the first place? It was the constant stopping and having to restart Central that corrupted them. Hence it was the download that was at fault.

I'm not going to argue about it anymore, I have already wasted Friday, Saturday, Sunday on this. As I said, I will come back when you have got things  working properly and then download my purchase. Feel free to mark this thread as "solved" if you wish, or more accurately "paying customer lost interest".
