On the main highway between Bend and Crater Lake, there is a small but fascinating park named The Newberry National Volcanic Monument. It features a nearly perfectly shaped volcanic cone, which you can walk up. On top, there is an old fire-lookout that can be visited. All around the cone are lava fields left from the last runoff. If TE Oregon shows it, it's worth a trip in itself. Plus, it has some of the funniest chipmunks to be found anywhere. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
