Matt McGee
Is the Airport Elevation Correction tool (AEC) available in the tools section of FTX Central with P3Dv4? (Without Vector installed, since it isn't out for v4 yet.) Or is the AEC only available if Vector is installed?
Richard Lincoln
Hi, Given they need to work hand in hand it is and will only be available when FTX Vector is ready Matt.
Holger Sandmann
Hi Matt, given that the only thing the AEC tool does is to deactivate Vector files -- namely those that conflict with elevation correction of other airport add-ons -- it wouldn't even make sense to release it without Vector. Cheers, Holger
Matt McGee
Thanks Richard and Holger. I didn't understand what files the AEC was actually changing. Am I understanding the following correctly? - Default FSX/P3D mesh is inaccurate and some airport elevation values are also incorrect (since they need to lay flat on incorrect mesh). - When an accurate add-on mesh is added, the incorrect airports have plateaus or trenches, because their default elevations do not match the correct elevation of the mesh. - Vector happens to includes "correct" elevation files for some of the airports which have known incorrect elevations. - The AEC lets us choose which of the Vector provided airport elevations are applied. Nick Cooper
Thank you for your enquiry. We do not give ETAs, it will like all the products, be released for P3Dv4 when it is ready.
