MZee1960
Robert A. Hoover is a well-known former air show, USAF test and fighter pilot. Known as the "pilot's pilot", Hoover revolutionized modern aerobatic flying and has been referred to by many aviation circles as one of the greatest pilots ever to have lived. In the early 1960s, Hoover began flying the P-51D Mustang at airshows around the country. The original Hoover Mustang (N2251D) was purchased by North American Aviation from Dave Lindsay's Cavalier Aircraft Corp. in 1962. A second Mustang (N51RH), later named "Ole Yeller," was purchased by North American Rockwell from Cavalier in 1971 to replace the earlier aircraft that was destroyed in a ground accident when an oxygen bottle exploded after being overfilled. Hoover demonstrated the Mustang at hundreds of air shows until his retirement in the 1990s. In 1997, Hoover sold "Ole Yeller" to his good friend John Bagley of Rexburg, Idaho. "Ole Yeller" still flies frequently and is based at the Legacy Flight Museum in Rexburg, Idaho. This amazing aircraft was captured in a few stills in the British Columbia, Canada region flying a 'quiet' practice run prior to an upcoming Spring Seattle Air show. Please enjoy, all that is "Ole Yeller" ..........
gumbypickett
I actually have Bob Hoover's autograph from when he was performing at Sky Race (Pylon Racing) at Valley Field South of Launceston. From memory he was performing aeronautical displays in an Aero Commander. Unfortunately that event folded, but what a legend he is. Wonderful set of shots Mzee. cheers Gumby

PDX Flyer
Is that the A2A Civilian or Military Mustang? Also, is that a repaint, and if so, do you recall which site you got it from. Nice plane. I have a photograph of myself with Bob Hoover when he was at an Air Show 10 in Hillsboro Oregon. One of my favorite pictures and moments. After getting this repaint, I was curious to research the background behind this magnificent pilot, ....... hence the 'novel' (LOL) . . 21 hours ago, PDX Flyer said: Is that the A2A Civilian or Military Mustang? There are a 'ton' of repaints for the Mustang, and they can be easily configured to 'fit' both military and civilian versions. So if u find a military repaint, u can easily adapt it to your civilian model and vice versa with only a couple of aircraft config file changes. This repaint was made originally for the military version, but I adapted it for the civilian version in a matter of seconds, and also changed the black instrument panel to this nice stainless steel one. All info on this repaint is available here :https://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=39365 Glad you liked this repaint as much as myself .... one of those unusual paints, for sure .
