Thanks Gumby. Yeah I'm just about done with it. I found the XBOX app to repair that message I was getting and ran it. "manage files and repair" fingers crossed, nope that didn't work, got the same message. 😡

That's if your prob has been fixed or have you actually wiped everything off?

Yeah down the dunny as they say, 😧 😀 all gone. I went to the Zendesk Brian mentioned, but as I had already done a "reset", there wasn't anything there that related to my problem. A lot of the files were deleted in the reset. What I basically have now is Win 10, MSFS and the DO are in my Apps file, but I don't know how to download them from there, there isn't a option to download. If you read my last post to Brian, you'll understand where I'm at.

Its a bit hard to understand where you are at present as I am not sitting in front of your system.  Frankly I'd follow the Zendesk stuff - thats the MSFS support desk. The base link to that is https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/categories/360001769531-Microsoft-Flight-Simulator.

I think that you still have the nsfs app installed - check the links I gave you above and see if the MSFS and community folders are there and what size they are. Then try the stuff zendesk suggests.  Do it one step at a time.  If you are getting to the basic start up page and then things stop that zendesk steps should get you going again.

Hi Brian, I don't have/find MSFS except at the Store, both MSFS and DO are there, the only place I can locate them is the icon on my task bar, and when it activates MSFS, I get the message I told you about earlier that says I need to fix them through the Xbox App. Most of the items in that Zendesk file don't apply to me, because I don't have any files for MSFS. Don't have a community folder, content folder, etc, because I don't have Microsoft Simulator in my computer, yep I can find it at the Store, but thats all. It doesn't give me a option to install it. It must be there somewhere, because it allows me to start the activate with the task bar icon, thats why I need to know how to find the Xbox App and access it to address those issues they are telling me to fix.  Thanks

Is this update going to effect p3d?

I have my update ready to install but I'm a tad

unsure if I should now. And I'm not computer savvy.

    cheers

You're asking the wrong guy Gumby, if I knew anything, I wouldn't be up to the neck in dodo like I am. My problems are with MSFS so I really can't comment or help you with P3D.

    Hi Don,

Bit pushed for time this morning, but, to be honest I'd check what size is the 😄 Drive and see if there is a community folder and a MSFS foler still there. If so I'd be tempted to delete them ( maybe after what I suggest next) and re install msfs on you 😧 Drive. Maybe better to bite the bullet now rather than stuffing about and getting nowhere. I think the re-install of Win10 basically blew away your remaining chance of restoring MSFS as it was.

    Brian

Thanks mate. No probs with the time restraint, have those myself - too much. After sleeping on it last night, I hit the reset button, which lead to me messing around with pretty much everything. Everything went south 😀. I couldn't use what I had sim wise, so thought I might as well do the reset. So far the only thing I've hit a brick wall with, - surprise   surprise, MSFS. It starts to install and then says I have a problem with some files and need to through the Xbox App > installed>select game> more actions>manage files>verify and repair. Just to clarify that, it actually looks like MSFS is actually installed, as I get the splash page (Bora) then the message and it stops loading. That make sense?

Problem is when I click on the Xbox App, I just get a page full of stuff to buy, I can't find the installed> select game .. etc so until I can do what they tell me, I'm stuck. Could you please point me in the right direction with this.  Thanks

ps It's on "D" drive now according to MS

Thanks Brian, I'll give it a go in the morning. Had a busy day finishing off  Maggie our Lab's whelping box, she due any day now, so I had to finish it today, should have been  done a week ago.

Hey Brian, confusion reigns. Followed that link and was a bit blown away by the options. At first I tried for an earlier restore point, but that didn't work, MS techs didn't save them, I could only find two, and they were too recent to be of any value. Where I'm confused is, that Win 10 is running fine, it's the link (?) that activates my sim that's not working/missing. All the things in recovery don't seem to relate to my problem, the reset wants to reinstall Win 10, but I don't see the point as it's running okay.

Question, I have never opened my Digital Ownership Folder, but did the other night, and it's empty, went to the APPs and had a look at it there, and it looks like it should have a bunch of stuff in it.

I went back to your post with the links to Reset Computer Recovery and your recommendation to "reset", (Go thru the steps to reinstall all the drivers and components), so maybe I should do that? Bit tired of not having a sim and all this messing around. So I think it's time to cut to the chase and do what I have to do, even if it means a reinstall of MSFS. Perhaps not tonight, but early AM I"ll do what you suggest. I was really surprised that the reinstall of Win 10 by the MS Tech, didn't fix it. Let's know what you think.

Take your mind off windows folder probs for a while anyways;)

That is about the ONLY consolation. My wife has been carting me around all weekend so far getting things she needs/forgot to get, and quite frankly, I'm knackered and it hasn't really started yet.

  9. :) Maggie is now 3 days away from Giving birth to 12 beautiful  labrador puppies. - yep thats what I said 12. My wife had her to the vet this morning for her    Xray, and as far as she can tell, Maggie is carrying 12 puppies due sometime between tomorrow Sunday  and  Tuesday so counting down. My wife of course is delighted, not so much about the number, she  hoping for about six or eight a more manageable number. ME, all I can see is a lot off sleepless nights ahead. Not my doing, but I guess I'm in for the ride.  Wish me luck.

    See this it might help

Also  and alternative might be Click on START > SETTINGS > RECOVERY > RESET THIS PC. Go thru the steps to reinstall all the drivers and components while keeping all your information. This takes about an hour but then you can run MSFS and you don’t have to do a bunch on reconfiguring.

    No guarantees though

Don, if John is correct about as the key that MS looks for when starting up then you only need to go to the Microsoft Store - Library lower left - Games and it will show if installed or not.

Still chasing this mate. My store page shows exactly what you have posted here, but now - today I'm getting another message. I'm totally confused .MSFSloadproblem2.thumb.JPG.a4e7a9d12d00d5b1769b59c78f52d1d0.JPG

  12. Hi John,

Well major disappointment, it didn't work. Removed the Xbox games folder hit the MSFS button, no joy. Decided to try a slightly different tack, shut my computer down, and attempted to activate MSFS via the MS store, same thing, I just got that Games window I sent you. I checked the Xbox games folder and that looked okay both the MSFS and the Digital Ownership are there.

I've become pretty confused with all this. I just checked some earlier posts and in one of yours you have pic showing your MSFS and Digital Ownership along side a pic of your "D" drive, are your MSFS and DO in your Xbox Games folder?

I just rechecked where mine are now and found I have a further problem, pic attached

I'm thinking I might have to bite the bullet as they say, and reinstall MSFS.

If that DO folder is empty, could that be part or all of my problem, should there not be something in that folder. I don't know what DO is but must be relevant.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks

    Don

If I were a bit closer, and not in Maitland, NSW, I'd come and have a look for you. I'm almost certain a fellow simmer would be able to sort this out, but at the actual PC, not remotely.

Thanks TMP John is quite close to me, Gold Coast, but we are both in the same boat, he can't drive and I'm restricted, in fact since I've had Covid and am in long Covid the Doc said no driving until I clear you. So it has to be resolved by computer contact.

OK Don - its 12 am and way past this old blokes bed time

Unless someone else pops up with an answer  - your screenshot of your c drive shows that - yes you have X box in the c drive -

but ALSO in the same folder as the other 2 as well - that cannot be

The reason you see the games page is because when you do click on the task bar - it probably  looks for a folder labeled x Box -which it finds

-in your c drive - and ignores the sim in the

I suggest - that you delete the second x box  shown - and try that

Quite honestly - I would  have installed the sim on the biggest drive - in view off all the community downloads - since C drive is supposedly

designed for your prime system  software

12 am you have to be kidding. If I'm not in bed by 9.30 my wife drags me off the computer by the hair😀 (Covid rule)

So, thank you John, this is where the uneducated bit comes in. Where MSFS comes in, I'm "flying" by the seat of my pants, so to speak. I've done heaps of tutorials

from Youtube to try and educate myself, unfortunately that doesn't do much good when you are stuck like I am now. This is techy.

So, a couple of things, I take your point, but I had the sim in "C" drive on its own at one stage, it didn't make any difference, but I'll try it again, I'll put the Xbox games folder back on my "D" drive, hopefully by the time you arise - lunch time 😂 I'll have some good news.

Originally I wanted the sim on my "D" drive, but MS kept changing it back to my "C" drive, and I had no idea how to fix that, so gave up, hence it's on my "C" drive. If I leave it on my "C" drive and have Xbox Games on my "D" drive, will that work? I think I tried that but will give it another go. As you say, the sim should be on my "C" drive.

I'll get back to you with the results, enjoy your sleep in 😄

Must have been on the booze all night, to take a 40 minute pee.🙄 Yep a bit of humour is required right now.

Okay, I'll start at the bottom, Orbx Central seems to, it's updating some programs right now.

I have the MS store version.

The MSFS, the digital ownership and the Xbox games are all in the one folder - see attached. Although I have clean install of Win 10, there has to be a further problem as in MSFS itself, as it won't boot up. I click on the icon in my task tray and it takes me straight to a games window see attached.

Question: Is my only choice now, to reinstall MSFS, but on my "D" drive, it's a 3Tb so should be plenty of room. I tried to do that once before but MS kept changing it back to "C" drive. I'm in deep water here without a paddle or lifejacket. Can you make any sense of this?

  16. Well I finally found the MIcrosoft online chat guy, and after three hours online with him, (he left me hanging for forty minutes), and when I gave him a "whats happening wakeup call", Oh you're still there, lets get this fixed for you. So a few minutes ago, it finished reinstalling  Win 10 and ALL the updates, and I booted up expecting to see my   MSFS in all it's glory, DUH DAA, still the same, no flight sim. THREE HOURS and nothing, I think I'll go outside and shoot myself....Sh*t I haven't got a gun, well I'll just have to throw myself under the next passing truck. So this is a fresh Win 10 install, which in theory should have fixed it, (thats the theory this MS tech was working on), as he obviously couldn't find the problem and fix it. His comment was, when I asked him if it was fixed, I got, quote, "as soon as the install is finished, you're good to go").

    😡😡😡🥵🤬
