  1. If it works that's great. It depends what Orbx sceneries you are using. Vector usually causes problems with UTX and Open Land Class does the same as UTX for terrain files. I have had both installed for different areas but got duplicate roads when they were in the same place. If you have problems you can always move the files up or down and see what happens. Larry
  2. Because they both do the same thing, I would have one or the other but not both. You could try UTX below Orbx but may still get some conflicts. Larry
  3. Have to agree with Ken. The Mooney is great. I have one with ferry tanks so can do longer flights. As for B, too bad you said nonstop or I would have gone with the Mooney too. If nonstop I would have to go with the Concorde. Larry
  4. Grant McConachie: Built a small bush pilot operation in the Yukon into a major international airline. Larry
  5. I've always had trouble with turbo-props. Seem overly complicated compared to straight jets. I've flown the Cessna Caravan some but have avoided King Airs for this reason. Don't have too much trouble with 737's which are the most common larger planes I fly. Larry
  6. Always fun to read and I comment when I have something to say. Often makes me think about what is important in life. Larry
  7. Very difficult. I fly the Mooney Bravo a lot as it is good for sight-seeing but if I could only have one it would have to be a 737 - currently I fly the I-Fly version but have also used PMDG's previously. Larry
  8. I don't even have a mobile phone. Had one for years (since 1987) but hardly used it so cancelled. This is as close as I get to social media - seems like a big time waster. I do use Wikipedia and Google Maps a lot. Larry
  9. I mostly use P3Dv4. My computer probably can't handle anything newer and it runs much better than FSX. Have considered newer versions or MSFS but haven't got there yet. If it ain't broke . . . Larry
  10. We have purchased a couple of cat beds over the years but a couple of 9 by 13 inch envelope boxes on a table by the window are still their favorite sleeping spots. Larry
  11. Hi Ken: We have two operating steam locomotives and actually operate them double headed during Railway Days in the summer. As operator agents we also hoop orders up to the trains when we are in the stations. Fortunately we have a couple of members of the telegraph club who worked for the local telephone company at one time so they keep the equipment operating. A lot of obscure technical details that we need to know to make it operate between stations. Larry
  12. I also spend a couple of days a week during the summer at Calgary's Heritage Park doing telegraphy. We have a circuit set up between 2 stations with a third available if we get enough people. Just learned the telegraph in the last 2 years but most of us are able to send and receive messages now. We also have one member and a couple of other mentors who worked on the railways as telegraph operators. We are in costume and explain the importance of the "Victorian Internet". Larry
  13. Model trains as well. A large layout that covers most of the basement. I get inspiration a couple of times a year and will work on it for a few weeks but eventually end up back upstairs flying. Probably spend most of the time rearranging track; Maybe I will get some scenery done one day. Larry
  14. Aircraft park directly in line with the apron link from the last taxi point to the parking spot. You can adjust the apron links in ADE to get the aircraft to park the way you want. Larry
  15. High River Alberta. A number of years ago we bought a scenic flight around Calgary at a silent auction. After taking off from Springbank Airport we did touch and goes at Okotoks and High River. We did the touch and go on the North-South gravel runway at High River and it very interesting when the pilot realized how short it was. He turned the controls over to me and I flew most of the way back to Calgary International where he landed the plane. When developing the Global Freeware Airports, I asked the developer Vlad Maly for permission to use his models for this and his other 2 Calgary area airports (Claresholm and Airdrie). He had no problem and we often talked by e-mail about airport design. I always think of him when flying over these airports and occasionally recreate the flight of many years ago. Larry
  16. I like Brussels Sprouts too but I don't think I ever saw them until I was about 16. My Mother was of Scottish descent and we always had turnips which I can eat in small quantities but I hated them for years. Larry
  17. I remember most of this. I still have a stereo with a record player and an 8 track tape. Our car does have a stick shift and I remember when nearly everyone at school carried a pocket knife. We used them mostly to play mumbly peg. Larry
  18. Try flying up to Yakutat if you have the Orbx Airport. Some nice custom features in the winter. Larry
  19. Back in the 70's Western used to fly Calgary-Great Falls-Helena-Butte-Idaho Falls-Pocatello-Salt Lake City-Las Vegas-Los Angeles. North of Salt Lake City the legs were only a couple of hundred miles or less. Flights were with a 737-200. Larry
  20. Probably some of the service equipment that automatically appears in parking spots designated as "Gate." You can turn these off if you want by lowering the Airport ground traffic settings. They tend to be of lower quality than a lot of the objects. Larry
  21. This airport was done a long time ago probably by Neil Hill. I don't think Neil did any custom terminal buildings although he sometimes used existing objects to create something resembling the terminal. In this case the default was probably the best solution. What you are seeing is probably correct and the guid would be for the default building ( Not sure where these are located, we just let them remain when revising the airport although sometimes they were moved to the correct location.) The global freeware airports were created to better reflect the airport layouts and buildings but do not use custom created building in most cases, although I did do a few distinctive terminals for some of the airports I created. Larry Isenor
  22. I believe True Earth does include all the improved airports that were in the original regions. I know all the North American airports were included plus a few outside the original Region boundaries. Some have minor location problems as they were not changed but just added to the True Earth files. For Florida we did new improved airports for the entire True Earth area. Larry
  23. Definitely easier ti taxi with rudder pedals. The plane doesn't tilt as it will with auto connected rudder and aileron. You can also steer using the toe brakes. They also allow you to straighten out the plane when landing at a bit of an angle. Larry
  24. Sloped Runways were not supported in FSX or P3D to version 4. However some creative designers figured out ways of doing it but it involves some trickery. I know a few of the grass runways I did in the Global Freeware Airports are sloped but it is a bigger problem with hard surfaces. One nice example is Ketchikan which has sloped taxiways but the parking spots and gates are hard to designate as FSX tries to make the airport level. Both P3D v 5 and MSFS support sloped runways but it is not a trivial exercise as each intersection point on the runways and taxiways must have a set elevation. At larger airports this becomes a very time consuming job. Larry
