Thanks for all the replies everyone! I agree, MSFS weather displays clouds so beautifully and realistically. Really adds to the immersion in a huge way, at least for me
Cheers!

Really immersive shot Iain....I can hear the purr of that engine flying past me as I look at it
-
Nice shot of this nice little plane....been flying it myself lately and enjoying it. I agree, great plane for sightseeing

Just a few shots of the Orbx/Aeroplane Heaven C140 flying over SoCal on a cloudy day not too long ago. Taken in MSFS with Live Weather on.
Cheers!

Very nice shot on approach there. Some great London scenery below in this shot that you captured.

Well Paul, another nice trip down Nostalgia Lane. Took me back to my first flights into Orbx EGHI. I remember how cool it was when I first saw that moving train Some super shots of the F101B too!

Some super postcard shots here Pete....it's like I was just there myself

A spread of very nice shots over the GB Central and Liverpool area. I dare say, one might get a bit wet when landing that amphibian in the water

Some good looking P3Dv5 shots Scott Still much to enjoy there.

Thanks. It's a Handley Page Victor as flown by the RAF.
Thanks for that Paul...doing some reading about it now on Wikipedia....looks like it was a decent Cold War strategic bomber turned re-fueler later on in life.

Some nice shots of Liverpool and the C140 John. I just picked up that plane last night and really loved it after my first flight with it.

Some good looking FSX shots there Paul, what aircraft is that btw?

@Nick Cooper Thanks for taking the time to post all that info and screenshots! I fly in 2k as well, so your screenies work well for me. I fully understand these kinds of tweaks or suggestions are at my own risk Nick. I will process and test out your info, and I thank you for your assistance The MS Store version of MSFS is what I own and use as well.
Cheers!
UPDATE: Good stuff Nick, I like the results very much! I didn't mess with my shadows as I like them, but the adjustments to the cloud lighting/brightness are wonderful! Thanks again!

Second - what on earth happened to the cockpits? How do I turn off those awful mousover colour changes on switches? Are any of the Orbx aircraft affected by this?
The cockpit mouseover thingy was part of the update for Xbox users as I understand it, which I get for those users. Thankfully, for PC users, there IS a way to turn it off....within MSFS, go into General Options, then click on the Accessibility tab on the left menu, and then in Accessibility, change COCKPIT INTERACTION SYSTEM to Legacy. Then you should be good to go
Cheers!

and had already found
out how to resolve the ludicrously bright clouds and white textures
Nick, if I may, what did you find to resolve the super bright clouds? I would be interested in that information as my clouds are extremely bright and washed out.

I too had lots of trouble getting the patch installed last night, and I tried everything Wolfgang suggested as well as all other work arounds and suggestions that people were recommending on the MSFS forum last night. I spent about 2 hours to get the update to install. In the end, even though I have always used the MS Store to update, what finally worked for me this time was that I had to install the Xbox App onto my PC. Why? The MS Store has been working fine for MS games and installs. I use a PC....why do I need and Xbox App to update a PC App on my PC? Oh my! At any rate, I got it sorted, and I do not blame Asobo for this. Rather, I agree with Wolfgang above, the blame probably should be laid on whoever at MS is in charge of posting the updates and definitely the person who came up with the convoluted process for this latest HF2 update process should be flogged repeatedly with a wet noodle. It's 2021, and regarding software updates, things are supposed to have gotten easier, right? I mean, Orbx Direct is a shining example, in my opinion. Ah, but alas....My MSFS is updated and performing well, so now I go fly
Cheers!

Okay, have been flying around KSBA with PG switched on, and it IS indeed better then it was some months ago. There are LOTS less melted and/or monolith looking trees, and I did not notice any melted buildings. However, I do still see some decent sized groupings of large and small trees around that do look like some strange monoliths and or look melted. No where near as much as I used to see, but they are still there. The problem for me is that I cannot ignore them, and they ruin the immersion for me, especially when there ARE so many good looking trees all over. Still, progress is progress. Now I have to decide if, for me, is it worth having PG on or not. We shall see.

Well last week I did a complete reinstall of MSFS , and that took care of my CTD’s . That might be your only option now .
Hopefully not....I was not having any issues before this latest HF2....no CTD's or anything. We shall see....I am still trying a few things...not giving up yet
Just had to vent a little.
Update: I managed to get the sim to update with the new HF. Had to use a lot of black magic, but all is working now and have flown a successful test flight, exited MSFS and then loaded back up to another flight. Sim seems to be performing very well when flying.

My update was only at the Store , no update in the Sim . You might try logging off the Store , then log back in and hopefully
start the update .
Thanks, but have tried all of that and then some.

Glad it is for you John... I can't do anything. Try to run MSFS, says it needs an update from the MS store, I try that, and it just loops back. I have been on the MSFS forums and ALL kinds of folks are having HF2 update problems. I have spent over an hour trying all kinds of workarounds...no luck.
