openLC EU in P3Dv2.2 - texture tile confusion

Screenshots say more than words:

These are the worst examples in the Finnish region.

Similar faults can be seen in Norway, so I think, it's an issue of openLC EU North - especially part 2 for Scandinavia.

My scenery.cfg file (that one in C:\Programdata\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2) lists here:

https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/LIBP1jWoLj2_t0-w18m6wdMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink (I've cut out part of the "Base...." entries from this screenshot due to better visibility of the screenshot - to read it use first the magnifying-glass icon in the right upper corner of picasa, then the magnifying drawer down right).

I've already read the thread with scenery.cfg entry "Default terrain" as a solution, I've checked to work with the correct scenery.cfg file, I've tried the "Hybrid Mode" variant, too. I'm just now trying a re-installation of the northern part of openLCEU.

Is there any other solution?

Michael.

I am having the same problems, now flying over Southern Germany from Rothenburg to Nürnberg. Who can help us?

I have just installed Europe - until now none of these problems had been present.

Hi!

Did you read the manual?

Page 13 -->

"Note that openLC Europe is not the FTX Europe region and selecting it will cause anomalies in the

scenery.

openLC is a Global addon and works only with Global selected."

So, witch to global and everything would be fine I assume.

Hi Phil,

I'm astonished that your screenshot shows a town - most probably Pikku-Peura. Until THAT position my scenery looks ok, too. Just north of it the chaos had (!) started.

Meanwhile I noticed that not only northern Finnland, but also Norway (around Tysfjord area) is affected.

Both countries are content of openLC EU NORTH - and there part of EUROPE2.

Disabling the scenery.cfg entry containing Europe2 lead to "normal", and default, scenery.

So I judged, that it could be an issue of either OLC_EU_CVX_Scandinavia.BGL or OLC_EU_REG_A_Scandinavia.bgl, the 2 scenery files in the respective folder.

I did a re-installation of openLC EU NORTH.

Until now (30 minutes of test flight) the textures look 'calm' and regular.

Maybe one of the BGLs was corrupted during installation.

I'll keep an eye on it - continuing flying in Scandinavia.

@ FS Scenery Manager - entry: the original P3D scenery.cfg file reads

[General]
Title=FS9 World Scenery
Description=FS9 Scenery Data
Clean_on_Exit=TRUE

In the first 4 lines - as does yours.

(Note the "FS9" although it is P3Dv2, which created this file!)

"FS Scenery Manager" is (mere 'was') a small tool by Michael Garbers reaching back to the times of FS2k to once manage the multitude of scenery addons. Today I use it only to re-number the lines for "Area" and "layer". As I assume the hierarchy of the OrbX scenery entries to be essential for correct display, I have not touched the sorting and grouping features of that tool since I switched to P3D.

Comparing with your scenery.cfg I now notice that,after having re-installed part NORTH, the hierarchy in my file presents mixed up and changed. Now the entries for VECTOR are the lowest in rank, followed by openLCbase, the 10 entries for Europe and the local GRB sceneries at the highest area number.

FTX Central reads v1.00 build 1043 from June 2014.

Michael (still sceptic)

I concur with all entries here. I fly all over Germany, Italy, France, and England. Since the installation of OpenLC EU, I have these blue tiles ( and 'moving' light areas in front of my airplane...). If this occurs to many people, why is there no reaction from the ORBX people?

I am certain that it is a general problem...?

That said, I am happier than ever before with my simulator. Now, flying over a landscape ia a lot of fun, I can recognize where I am! And all that without having to install a lot of addons ( like with FSX ) and(!) having to deal with the accompanying additional problems. I am so glad that I can get my sceneries from one seller!

Now it becomes REALLY interesting.

I've set FTX Central to Global and hybrid mode ticked.

And I've done a re-installation of openLC EU north.

And there are no more texture confusions (yet! - keep your fingers crossed!), at least no obvious ones like in my screenshots. Now after 2 1/2 hours of simflying across Scandinavia using the F35, so I could cover a larger area than with the Beech King Air.

For me - the problem seems solved.

But wait! I have not seen the other parts (south, east, west)!

Have a look at where you have set texture resolution in your scenery settings.  I found that these anomalies disappeared when I backed off on the slider.  I think that I was overwhelming my very good 780 GPU and it could not render the textures sufficiently quickly.

I know some debate this, but after starting P3D I go into Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del), select processes, scroll down to 'prepared3D.exe', right-click on priority and select High.   Works for me, and also I repeat the same process and select Affinity 'All' cores.

These last can be adjusted permanently but I have forgotten how!
