  1. One thing I might add to Nick's post for backing up your control setup: Navigate to (without brackets): <%appdata%\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\Controls\> Make a copy of "standard.xml" to your desktop or a folder of your choice. Install v5 HotFix 1 using Nick's guide Use the "Delete Generated Files.exe" in the Prepar3d v5 directory to clean out all of the configuration files. Once running P3D, in the controls settings, choose import at the bottom of the screen and select the "standard.xml" file that you backed up. Your prior control settings are now restored!
  2. Thanks all. It sure is nice to get to explore all of the old scenery like it's new when the simulators get upgraded. Kinda like getting a new rig to push the graphics farther for that extra bit of fidelity.
  3. Just some shots from a flight this afternoon. I'm really impressed with the move to DX12 and the load being moved off of the CPU. My aging computer used to struggle with high lighting, water and resolution options but they are all tuned to the max and framerates are smooth as butter (no slow texture loads either, I love it!). Here are my HDR settings: Brightness: 1.00 Bloom: 0.60 Saturation: 1.10 Sim Settings follow the screenshots.
  4. Great shots Steve, I've experienced the same great results in framerates that you have.
  5. Some screenshots I took during testing the release build follow to show some great artwork by Ken Hall and the great performance I had with my aging computer: It was a bit dark due to the near overcast conditions, but it really brought out the undulations in the desert terrain and highlighted the beautiful mountains in all the right ways. System specs, simulator settings and third-party software being used follows the screenshots. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My system: i7-4790k @ 4.5Ghz 16GB DDR3-2400 GTX 1070 My settings: Settings Screens.zip Other software used: IndiaFoxtrotEcho - Siai Marchetti S-211 Active Sky 2016 Active Sky Cloud Art (with HD pack installed) TomatoShade (with Chris O. Elite v2.1 preset) ReShade 3.1.1 (with Chris O. Elite preset) Chaseplane TrackIR v5
  6. I think it's the 870M holding you back. My (now) mediocre rig is an i7-4790, 16GB DDR3-2400 and a GTX 1070. I did extensive FPS testing during the beta and with all sliders to the right, all shadows enabled, 4xSSAA and a resolution of 2560x1440 (2K) I would routinely see 26-30 FPS. With the water render turned down to High (instead of Ultra), and some shadow received disabled (vegetation and simobjects), the framerate was routinely 40+. Turning building and vegetation autogen sliders down one notch to High Density, disabling building and vegetation shadows and using a lower resolution (1920x1080) in addition to the for mentioned changes, ensured the framerate was 60+. FYI, in any urban environment, having simobject, building and vegetation shadows and a high AI vehicle setting will kill the framerate on any rig (the engine tries to render all those shadows on all the little cars, along with all shadows cast from buildings and trees on the little cars). Make sure you check those settings first for a way to bring up the framerate.
  7. Some more shots from a morning tour of Monterey in the Baron 58.
  8. Still learning the ins and outs of this sim, and she sure can produce some pretty pictures.
  9. Indeed! I can't think of any Milviz birds that are heavy on framerates beyond their b407... though I don't have any of the F-4 packages.
  10. Beautiful shot for some beautiful scenery.
  11. Here's a video of the Beaver, try not to drool. https://youtu.be/wv92ZjoLorA EDIT: I see you already commented on the video Howard!
  12. I believe the aircraft in question was the forthcoming Milviz Beaver. She will be a day one purchase for me, they can't take my money fast enough!
