FTX Global and Canberra City Scape Terrible

Hi

This is my first posting so I hope I am doing it correctly.  My problem is that I have just purchased and installed FTX Global, Canberra Airport and Canberra City Scape.  I am sure I have followed all the instructions exactly and I had no error messages during the install.  However the quality of the scenery is terrible as you will see from the attachment.  I have set all my FSX parameters as suggested and tried with higher and higher settings but to no avail.  Some guidance would be appreciated.  I am assuming it is in my settings somewhere , where the problem is although I accept I may have to do another install.  The scenery library is in the order it should be in afaik.  Obviously you will need more information so please let me know what you need and I will post accordingly.  Thank you.  I have uploaded the screen shot but I am not sure how to link it here.

I have now installed FTX Australia SP4 and installed the latest library 131027 but the result is identical.  Many buildings are completely flat.  Some are mixed between other buildings; some appear in large areas together.  There also looks like there are flattened carparks full of cars.  Help please.

I am getting nowhere with this.  I have tried and tried.  I have reinstalled Canberra City Scape plus Canberra Airport plus the latest library last but I still get the same terrible scenery as above with lots of flattened buildings etc.  I also notice now that I cannot change anything in my YSCB Control Panel - it says "Could not switch option 'FSX Ground Poly (Entire Field) + Static Airliners'.  This has just happened but I do not know whether it is related with the real problem. I have also looked at the other airports I installed such as Brisbane and again I am getting scenery which shows lots of flattened buildings. Help please as I am really regretting getting this ORBX ##%%@.

Seems like the install might have gone a bit off.

Take a moment to clear everything out and start again.

In your FSX directory under ORBX\FTX_AU, delete the YSCB and YSCB Canberra Cityscape folders.

In your FSX\ORBX\Scripts folder delete any file with yscb in it (I have 3 in mine)

In the same Scripts folder run the FTXConfigurator.exe file (there will not be any message it just happens.

Install the latest Australia 4.003 patch and the latest FTXORBXLIBS (131027 I believe) both available from the FTX website under support.

Start FTX Central and confirm you have either an Oceania or Australia icon.  Activate whichever one you have.  If not, you might need to reinstall the Australia scenery again, followed again by the update and the ORBXLIBS.

Confirm that you have the ordinary FTX AU Canberra scenery looking normal, ie the autogen buildings look normal.

If not, give us another screenshot please, from a bit higher up would be better.

If yes, then install YSCB first, ensure it is working well (I have minimum options checked for YSCB) and if so, install the Canberra Cityscape and confirm it is displaying correctly.

If not come back with another screenshot and we'll see what we can do.

Hi John.  Thanks for your help.  I have done what you said exactly and am not happy with the ordinary FTX AU Canberra scenery.  It does not look normal to me.  I have uploaded 4 photos at 7000 feet, 6000 feet, 4000 feet and 3000 feet so you can get a better look.  I have not at this stage installed YSCB or Canberra Cityscape.  I will wait until I hear your comments on these images.  Maybe that is what they should look like but I wouldn't have thought so.  I eagerly await your advice.

Hi John - Thanks for your help.  I have done what you suggested and moved my autogen slider to the right and it is now set at extremely dense.  It is definitely better because there are less flat buildings etc but it is still poor.  I have attached a couple of photos of Wellington to show you what it now looks like.  This is with FTX Central set on Oceania as I have Orbx NZ NI.

As you can see the autogen slider helps the buildings density, and the specialised scenery helps even more.

As far as your Wellington shots go, FTX is a landclass enhancement package, and you won't see the level of detail that you see in Canberra in other cities such as Wellington.  The improvement overall across the country is great, but there are limits in how much improvement can be achieved inside the FSX coding.

Most FSX/FTX scenery is best viewed at normal GA aircraft height, ie 1500-2500' above the ground.  At that altitude with autogen set to extremely dense the representation of the NZ landscape and cities are in my opinion very good.

I have the following addons installed and was wondering if any of these could be causing my problem:

Traffic Toolbox

FSPassengers

PDFKneeboard

AI Ships

FSUIPC (Unregistered)

SuperTrafficBoard Plugin

Flight1 SoundStream

GSX

Addon Manager 2.9.0.14

I am thinking I may have to either abandon all my ORBX or reinstall everything from scratch including FSX which will be a real pain.

Please keep your thoughts coming.  I am still willing to try anything to avoid the above scenario.

Thanks everyone for your help so far.

Hi Ivanrk, from what i can get from your pics, it seems you haven't installed YSCB airport, nor cityscape Canberra, please see my pic attached below that shows how your FSX library should be:

I advice you to repeat the installation as John Dow suggested you, in particular the order is

Australia SP4

YSCB airport + the patch 1.1 (you get it from the support page)

Cityscape Canberra.

Obviously you have to set your FTX central onto Oceania once time you have completed your installation. I don't think the addon you have can interfere with the sceneries if they aren't landclass products and aren't set upper in priority in the FSX library.

If these steps are not enough you have probably your terrain.cfg file corrupted and maybe yes, it shouldn't be a bad idea to reinstall FSX also, because if it was in order, generally the installation of our products doesn't give problems.
