enarc
Hi all Looking forward to see this software installed after reading all the excellent reviews. Unfortunately I have run into a problem during the installation. During the last part of the procedure a Error box appears with the message: **************************** C:\FSX\\ORBX\Scripts|Custom.au\AutogenDescriptions.spb A decompression error has occurred (#2031) Unknown decompression error. Then the choice of the following actions ABORT, RETRY, IGNORE. **************************** Pressing RETRY or IGNORE returns the same message and ABORT obviously stops the installation. I have tried two downloads from Flightsim store and two different unzippers the last being WINZIP with the same error message. During the download and extraction, installation processes Antivirus software was disabled. Any suggestions?
Wolter van der Spoel
Hi there, sorry to hear of your woes, did you unzipp the files in to their own folder and then rightclick and the run exe as Administrator also be aware that you need at least some 15-20 Gig of free space on your HDD or SSD for the wrapper to work properly
enarc
Hi Wolter Thank you for your suggestions. I have 1TB HDD and basically I only use this computer to run FSX (i5-2500 Quad, + 1gb NVideo Geforce) so I have more than sufficient memory space and processing power. I had already zipped to own file. I tried running file as administrator. The unwrapping seems to take place but I still get the same fault message as before during installation which indicates a decompression error with the same fault code. I have the Flight1 Utimate Terrain (Europe ) software installed but this should not be the problem I think? I have run out of ideas now.
Wolter van der Spoel
UTX and FTXGlobal do work together, there must be something else that's causing this, can you run the installer again, but make sure that before you do all virus scanners, firewalls and other "spy catching" stuff is disabled
enarc
Tried again with no improvement. I use free Avast virus protection and I stopped scanning on the following shields - File system, Web, Mail, Network, P2P, IM, Behavior, script. The files extracted have sizes as follows: OrbxFTXGlobal100.2 through 100.9 all 512KB OrbxFTXGlobal100 app file 596,345KB I did install MS .NET framework 4 client profile but I notice that there is also an MS .NET framework 4 extended listed in the Control Panel. I decided once more to try & as I was clicking thro the installation process quickly again suddenly I saw install to C:/ which I inadvertently clicked and hey presto it dumped lots of files namely 000b21ml through to water_detailR32 bitmap image files which I assume are the correct files & which I assume need to be transfered into FSX under the correct director. If this possible can you tell me where to transfer and what do I have to backup
Wolter van der Spoel
OK, sounds more like a registry issue then, do check where your fsX registry entry is, you can use the fsX Registry Utility tool for that => http://www.tweakfs.com/store/free_tools.php the Installer looks for your fsX registry entry so if that is wrong it will not install correctly use the registry tool to correct it and then re-install
enarc
All the files that I mentionedthat were loaded was a backup of my original FSX textures so you can ignore my earlier comment. I used the registry tool and nothing seemed amiss. On installation the same error messages were displayed as described in my first post. The original download used the Internet Download Manager with no reported problems. I do not know where to go now?
enarc
I have tried all your suggestions without success. I even re installed .Net as suggested in your replies to the other reported FTXG installation issue by vgb. Recently I downloaded REX ESSENTIAL PLUS which has a similar size file 4+ GIG from the FlightSim Store this decompressed and installed with no problems. I used the same download manager and decompression tools. I turned off all the anti virus software whilst doing so. Therefore something we do not understand is happening. Everything happens correctly when as reported in my first post the following fault message appears after the unwrapping process is finished completely and installation is started: C:\FSX\\ORBX\Scripts|Custom.au\AutogenDescriptions.spb A decompression error has occurred (#2031) Unknown decompression error. Then the choice of the following actions ABORT, RETRY, IGNORE Maybe in these circumstances supplying a CD would eliminate many of these problems in which case I would be happy to test. Having spent £50+ I need a solution or refund.
Wolter van der Spoel
Sorry to hear of your continiung issues there find attached a screenshot of the contents of the FTX Global installer folder, could you indicate which program you use to unzipp the files, I have been using PowerArchiver for some 15 years now without any hickups click on the screen for fullsize screenshot
rogera
Winzip couldn't deal with a 4 gb file so I unzipped it with winrar without issue.
enarc
Hi Wolter Thanks for your efforts. I used Winzip, jZip, and last of all WinRar which has been recommended which all seem to perform OK. I tried decompressing with WinRar last but I get the same error message. After decompressing I have an identical screen to the one you sent - ie all files shown and file sizes and this has been the case using all three tools. Just for information FSX is installed under C:/
Wolter van der Spoel
this has me really stumped, I'll ask the Team if they have another insight that I maybe am overseeing
enarc
Hi Wolter Following your admission of being stumped I have spent a lot of time recently trying to overcome the problem. I have researched the error 2031 which I get each time during the installation after the unwrapping has completed. I have used an error 2031 cleaner and cleaned up the registry. FSX performs perfectly and as mentioned before I had no problem installing REX. I have tried downloading using different download managers but believe this is not the problem. The decompressed file looks identical to the one you sent, Unwrapping is completed and only on the final installation does the bug appear. I conclude then that it is not possible to load FTX global using the present method and ask if it is possible to use a CD installation method to avoid the current problem. If this is not a possibility will I be able to get a refund from FlightSim Store.
Wolter van der Spoel
HI there, not sure if it is related, but another user got the files decompressed but then huge issues installing at the end it turned out to be a faulty .Network file please have a read here and do the indicated test to see if that is maybe the issue at your end
enarc
Thanks for suggestion which I tried, however the sytem file checker appears not to be on my PC which means I have again come to a grinding halt. Thankfully FSX and REX run perfectly.

Ed Correia
Could you please go to your Temp folder (Click your Windows Start button and type %temp% in the Search program and files box) Locate and attach here your "FTX Global Base Pack Setup Log.txt" file. You could also try deleting all the contents of your Temp folder, rebooting and trying the installer again. Again making sure the your AV is disabled and you run the installer as Administrator. Ryan Mason
Sorry for the issue enarc, as you can see there are now a few of us involved trying to help you. FSS does offer a DVD service, I think it only costs a few dollars plus postage, however, due to the size of FTXG I am not sure if it all fits on a DVD, perhaps if Adrian sees this he can chime in. Ed Correia
Thanks for that. Can you tell me how much free space you have on your C drive? Sorry, by AV I mean anti virus software. enarc
Hi Ed Hard Disc: 738GB free of 931GB I was not able to delete all the files in the temp folder because I did not have the permission to do so. Whilst I am main administrator this required permission via the desktop which I had not created. Some of these were created when I ran WinRAR , software as suggested in an earlier reply above, files named such as ibtmpc2f8301 and is256538528 but these appear not to have any data in them. I had the same problem prior to installing WinRAR so I do not believe this is the cause of the problem I did try to install again with the exact same results.. The set up log appeared identical. The ORBX folder has installed under FSX as C/FSX/ORBX/scripts/Backup,Custom.au,Custom.eu,custom.gb_hybrid,FTX Global which I assume is correct but no data. enarc
Hi Ed Which message have you sent which you refer to in your previous message? If you refer to the READ ONLY on the FSX folder I tried but unsuccesful. Here are some of the other things I have tried below: A system scan using MS file checker Memory check A repair "repair" installation using my FSX delux disc and the accelorator disc on my FSX files. Errorend scans using third party software. Because the fault is reported as a decompression error I downloaded a new file onto a second PC(my laptop) decompressed the file and sent it over a wireless home network and tried installing with that. The same error was reported which seems to prove it is not a decompression error. The next step is to carry out a thorough clean of my system. I hope we have not run out of ideas yet? Do you believe the disc version would offer a possible solution?
