YBCS Cairns Intl - International Terminal Reveal

Recommended Posts

Thanks to everyone for the strong response to pre-sales for Cairns Intl - if you haven't had a chance to pre-purchase yet, perhaps these shots may help entice you ;D

Whilst we work feverishly in the background to put the final touches on Cairns Intl, I'd like to showcase a central component of the scenery that is yet to receive much limelight - the international terminal. In much the same vein as the domestic terminal, careful attention has been paid to ensure a good balance between high fidelity and great performance. Keep an eye out for the 7cm synthetic apron (check out the brickwork detailing), custom environment maps, and usual plethora of details that you have come to expect from ORBX.

The international terminal at Cairns receives traffic from all over the western Pacific - Jetstar and Qantas heavies are a common sight during the busy lunchtime rush-hour. Graham has included a host of new updates specifically for Cairns in his latest FTX Traffic update, so be sure to have this installed to make the most of the airport.

My hat goes off to you Jarrad, my next purchase will be Canberra or Cairns in the coming weeks (but will be being both! :P)

Does the aprons at YBCS support the FTX Aero tool? At YMML v2 my taxiways go blurry and reload sometimes (asking this as YBCS uses the same tech as YMML v2), but with YBBN they do not go blurry. So in terms of the aprons would it be like YMML or YBBN?

It doesn't matter, because it looks fantastic! :)

Many thanks for the kind words gents,

So in terms of the aprons would it be like YMML or YBBN?

The aprons I've done are similar to YBBN in that regard; the rest of the movement areas (taxiways/runways etc) are a little different again, more akin to what you see at Hervey Bay.

Cheers,

Jarrad

Still cant believe at $32.95 this is the kind of software we get..... truly worth more than you charge  (but i do like the prices where they are of course hahahaha) great work guys really great work!!

Thanks Tim. If you truly feel that we're not charging enough for these addons, please feel free to purchase multiple copies (and I'm serious when I say that). You're not alone in your sentiments; indeed many of our customers waited until the YMML V2 upgrade offer expired before purchasing it, so they paid what they felt was the right upgrade price.

So your thoughts are really appreciated, thank you.

Anytime mate, I have watched all of you for some time now in pure amazement at how much each developer has grown and ORBX itself and i will enjoy watching how much you will grow in the future too, and when I do my new computer build next year I plan on buying extra copies of particular airports as long as money permits it .... which i'm sure it will hehe

I was just wandering wether it will include the new static aircraft and animated people ?

Indeed it will, as a service pack once both of these components are ready. You can see some of the static people in these shots already, I hope to have some shots showing the static aircraft in the not-too-distant future. In addition to these, Cairns is a little unique in that it will also have a good smattering of individual static aircraft and helicopters built specifically for this project - RAN Fokker-27, Shorts Belfast, B727, BAe-146, Customs Dash-8, Bell Jetrangers and R44's.

Cheers,

Jarrad

Absolutely stunning Jarrad.  Pre-paid done and dusted mate.

Those shots are truly amazing.  Having gazed on the airport from the surrounding hills, I can certainly vouch for the authenticity of this scenery.  The atmospherics are really ground breaking.

Mr Marshall, you really are a treasure for this hobby and community. Long my you continue to do this work.  We all benefit from it.  Thanks a million for all your efforts.  Any hints on your next project?  I'm sure it will be brilliant as this one looks to be.

Folks, this is stunning work.

Cheers,

Getting it tonight!

I wish ORBX would start developping more international airports even outside Australia...

Let's say in Europe and Canada for now.

Best sceneries out there! My compliments to the development team!

Jarrad; i will produce a 45 sec video showing the airport only in details. Based on the feedback i received of the Official video, people would have appreciated if i had spent more time showing the airport itself instead of the surrounding. Therefore when i comeback home ( i m in vacation atm ) i will make a short video focusing on the airport itself.

Cheers !!
