EDDT missing NAV data

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I own the Berlin-Tegel Airport (EDDT) from Gaya Simulations. I just noticed that I no longer any NAV data for EDDT. I can not select any SID/ STAR/ ILS in the menu or FMS. Does someone else have noticed it and is there an easy fix for that?

Do you use current NAV data from commercial providers? Or is the scenery from Gaya coming with current data? Both could be an explanation, as in reality Tegel is now out of operation and does not need any navaids any more.

I don't use any additional NAV data. I think that the NAV data update in one of the patches from MSFS might have removed EDDT, but Gaya could release an update with NAV data for EDDT. Right now the airport is pretty useless for ILS flying. For a payware airport that's not great...

It is likely that the EDDT default navaids and mavdata had been removed by one of MSFS' monthly AirNav updates. As bad this is for owners of Gayas EDDT, it is a indication that the default MSFS navdata are kept as good and real as it gets.

So I think Gaya should releasse a navaid patch for EDDT.

@Nick Cooperthanks, I will contact them. I hoped that there is already a fix that I did not know.

@wolfko yea it's great that we get some airac cycle updates from Asobo, but I would like to keep NAV data for products I bought ;)

Maybe other owners of EDDT contact them as well to make them aware of the problem.

I contacted them and got the following answer from Gaya:

"Thanks for pointing that out. We are of that and will contact Microsoft to check a potential solution from their side to have it back. FYI we did not edit or changed anything with the Nav data of the airport and it's all based the simulator and it's updated nav data.

Gaya support team"

Well, that does make me hopeful, that there might be a solution in the future. I just guess we have to wait and see.

Due to the current SU5 uproar, I figure their priorities lie elsewhere at the moment. But I can wait as long as something is actually done.

So thanks very much for contacting Gaya and getting the feedback back to us, @TFisch - much appreciated.

Hello,

this appears to have been correctly identified above.

The real world EDDT is closed and therefore any simulator navaids will have been switched off

as I expect that they have been in the real world.

If the search is for accurate replication of the real world, any landing there would need to be done

without navigation aids, which might actually be more fun than simply pressing a few switches and turning a few dials.

This is just my own opinion of course and disagreement is welcome.:)

Hi @Nick Cooper - you are right of course, if your approach is to always "fly in the present". If you like to take a trip down memory lane and want to relive that flight you where on as a wee little lad, you might want to "fly back then", if you catch my drift. I mean, there is the option in MSFS to adjust time backwards.

Therefore it would be nice, if the option was there to use different "past" approaches and landing aids, like ILS and such. Those who are firmly rooted in the present may happily ignore those, while the memory lane pilots can still use them freely.

Does that make sense? That way everybody wins and nobody is missing out.
