oamo
Cliffs of step terrain don't display very well - looking as if land textures are draped across the terrain mesh. Is this just the way the scenery is or can it be improved?
Nick Cooper
Hello, welcome to the forums. Possibly, it is just the way it is. Textures are applied from the top down and do not react well to near vertical surfaces. This is the nature of the simulator, not the Orbx product. If you can say where that is, we can take a look. Stewart Hobson
I've been flying in PFJ recently and often have seen this phenomenon, and have chalked it up to Nick's explanation regarding the textures covering vertical surfaces. It looks strange, but it is what it is.
oamo
Thanks Nick The location is Wrangell either in PD or Southern Alaska. I'm not sure which.
Holger Sandmann
Hi guys, actually, those are the inaccurate default shorelines and water flattens cutting into the terrain mesh, hence the unrealistic cliffs and distorted textures. Unfortunately, it's quite typical for the default landscape in fjordlands such as these; it can happen in our FTX Regions too but only in areas with vertical cliffs in the real world, which are pretty rare. Wrangell isn't covered within our North American regions as the area was previously developed as the "Misty Fjords" add-on published by FSAddon. Cheers, Holger
