Caledonia112
Just bought Orbx UK North yesterday, and disappointed is an understatement. Firstly the resolution of the terrain textures is quite low. I had a much better result with Ortho4xp (free) The roads and the traffic are pathetic. Roads are so thick they hide alot of the scenery along side them. Road textures dont blend at all with the mapping so they stick out like a sore thumb and look aweful. This is especially bad in large citys. Alot of the roads dont follow the contours of the earth and have giant lumps or recesses. Then theres the framerate. I normally run Xplane in VR and with other equally detailed scenery packages and ortho4xp it runs beautifully. Its unusable. Any slight head movement is jerky and the aircraft is bouncing through the sky. I would like a refund and raised a ticket, however i was pointed here. Nick Cooper
Hello, welcome to the forums and thank you for your comments. I will move the topic to the X Plane 11 forum, where you are more likely to receive support for your X Plane 11 product.
Jon Clarke
The resolution is ZL 17. Roads can be either XP default or transparent via the Configure option. The quality of the imagery also depends on your Texture Quality settings in XP. I had UK in Ortho4xp and it was covered in trees in wrong places, had colour mismatch, clouds on the ground image. Interestingly I run exclusively in VR and don't see the problems that you see. What are your computer specs, as a matter of interest? Also please attach your scenery_packs.ini file in your Custom Scenery directory and let's see what we can do.
Caledonia112
It runs ok when not in VR however as soon as i turn my head the framerate falls and its unusable. There are still issues with some of the roads having white textures, mostly slip roads and motorways for some reason. Jon Clarke
I will let @Fizzelle be kind enough to respond regarding VR as I don't have it nor use it. I would point out though that you have ortho4xp files near the top of the scenery_packs and they should be down the bottom with the other ortho files. They may cause a problem with other scenery if they remain where they are, but this aspect has no bearing on your reported problem. Just advice. Fizzelle
I have attached a revised scenery_packs.ini file to this post. Missing from your ini is the entry: SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/yOrtho4XP_Overlays/ and this should go directly above the ortho4xp entries. I am assuming that you generated overlays when you built the tiles? _____________________________________________________________________ Next please screenshot your graphics settings within X-Plane so we can see the slider positions for complexity etc. _____________________________________________________________________ Next kindly disable this entry in your ini file as shown, just to eliminate a possibility: SCENERY_PACK_DISABLED Custom Scenery/OpenSceneryX/ _____________________________________________________________________ Finally please take a screenshot in flight of a view with which you are particularly displeased, showing the exact co-ordinates so I can compare mine with yours. _____________________________________________________________________ Best wishes. scenery_packs.ini
Caledonia112
Hi Fizzelle Thanks for the above advice. I work offshore in Oil and Gas and wont be back home to try my VR for two weeks. Caledonia112
Hey guys, Tried all of the above and still not having any luck. Had all the graphic settings at minimum and it still has the same issue. Done a clean install with just obrx and it was still the same. I have uninstalled the software and reloaded my own textures from Ortho4xp and its running flawlessly at almost the highest settings. It seems to be only with the VR which is a shame. I cannot screenshot it as its on my head! I will be pursuing a refund, as the software isn't usable. On another note i downloaded Edinburgh airport and its running fine!
