rlaycock
Hi I have developed a issue with X-plane 11 It will always crash when I try and fly from (or close to) EG15 Clark. I have ORBX Central installed and x plane 11.30 I have experienced the crash with several difference aircraft so I don't think it is them and it does not appear to crash at other airports. Thanks in advance if you can help Bob
rlaycock
Hi I have been doing some thinking re this crash as my sim is downloading and installing Orbx True Earth GB North I feel it has started only since I updated the ORBX libraries. I did this a few days ago. As the lake district is so spectacular with ORBX True Earth Central I often fly from there and as EG15 Cark is just south of this area I am sure I have done it since updating X Plane 11 to version 11.3. However I am not so sure I have tried it since updating to the latest version of ORBX libraries. Is there a way I can disable the latest version of the libraries and try to go back to a previous version to test my theory? Please note If I start a flight from EG15 Cark, I don't even get the sim loaded it crashes during starting the flight. Then X plane asks me to to send a log etc. However if I start the flight from EGNL Barrow The sim will load. I can get airborne then at several hundred feet the sim crashes. and I get the same send log screen. Thanks if you can help. Bob
Nick Cooper
Hello, I am not able to replicate this, either loading at Cark or flying around. Do you have a special version of the airport? If you can attach the log, perhaps we can see what is going wrong.
rlaycock
Hi Thanks for the reply I do not have any extra version of the airport TE GB north has completed installing so I loaded x plane and selected a bunch of random airports all over Scotland and they all loaded fine however I then selected EG15 Cark and got the Crash to desk top. I have attached the log file From the cut and past below from the bottom of the log file you can see it would appear to be true earth that is causing the issue Thanks again for any help you can provide. rlaycock
Hi Thanks for trying looks as though something must have gone wrong with my install. I can only hope someone who understands the attached log file can give me some guidance on how I mat resolve the issue. Or Maybe I could will need to try a reinstall True Earth GB Central? However this would appear to be a lot of bandwidth (Both for Orbx and me). Thanks again Bob
Nick Cooper
No need to reinstall it at all. It is most unlikely to be the problem. Two of us cannot replicate it. If you want to try Cark without it, just move the folders out of custom scenery. If the problem persists, then you can rule it out.

rlaycock
Hi Nick I followed your advice and I am convinced it has something to do with ORBX. However I have no clue as to what. What I did was: Moved the 3 folders in Custom Scenery folder that have Orbx and Central in the title to a temporary folder Tried to load a flight for EG15 and the sim crashed. I moved ALL the folders with ORBX in the title ie South and North to the temp folder including libraries Tried to load a flight from EG15 and it loaded fine I moved the North folders back into custom scenery (please note this issue started before I bought North) Tried to load a flight from EG15 and again the sim crashed. (This total confused me) To confirm it is ORBX related I again moved all the files from the Custom Scenery folder Tried to load a flight from EG15 and it loaded fine So I have no clue what to do now should I attempt to reinstall orbx or is there some file hidden away that has some how become corrupted? Thanks again if you can help Bob
Vostflyer
To me, the symptoms point to an instability with your cpu (which I am guessing has been overclocked). I went through the same pain with default scenery in certain built-up areas. X-Plane 11 seems to put short-term demands on the cpu, above and beyond what your typical overclocking benchmark apps such as AIDA 64 do. After reducing my overclock by 100 MHZ (i.e. 1 multiplier), the crashes have gone away. If you are running a stock (non-overclocked) cpu, then the problem must lie elsewhere. Thanks again if you can help Bob Bob, what you have not tried is running with orbx scenery only, becsuse the problem may be some sort of conflict between orbx and custom. I have similar issues and they were not there with orbx only, or with custom only. They were there with both orbx and custom. I have alot of UK custom scenery so I did not like the idea of trying to find the exact custom culprit, so I deleted several custom airports that now have good default airports, and I deleted alot of custom POIs that are now in orbx or will be in future. So far, so good, but am still testing. Maybe hlpful? Cheers.
rlaycock
Hi all It gets even more confusing but also happy (sort of) 1/ @Vostflyer Thanks for the reply, however I have never and will never overclock any of my hardware. I would rather turn down settings that overclock hardware. Somehow (by good luck rather than good management) i have got it working again. What I did: On Friday I bought a new SSD as the old one that I use for x plane had not quite enough space to accommodate True Earth GB North on top of the other True Earth GB regions. Before installing the new SSD, I used the software to clone my old disk to the new one then replaced the hardware. After completing what I outlined above, I recalled this and remembered that I probably still have the old files on the old SSD So I copied Orbx South and Central from the old SSD back to the new one. Started XP 11 and to my surprise a flight from EG15 loaded!!!!! I then copied the new folders relating to north into the X Plane / Custom Scenery folder Loaded x plane 11, started a flight from EG15 and it loaded!!!!! At this point I am very happy. (Patting my self on the back). I started a new flight with a new aircraft I bought a few days ago the excellent Aero SP 30 from Mad Flight Studio, from EG15 and the sim crashed as before. (Feeling rather glum), I tried again with another plane, again from EG15 and it worked fine (This is the sort of happy bit. A add-on I paid quite a few $ for, I am now reluctant to use) I have (temporally I hope) removed the Aero SP 30) and I am currently flying over lower Scotland (departing from EG15) in the Carenado Beach Barron. I have no clue as to how an aircraft can cause X Plane 11 to crash, at one particular area, and only if I have ORBX regions in the Custom scenery folder, but it appears to have happens to me. Again thanks to all for your suggestions and help.
rlaycock
Hi all I have to admit this is very frustrating. It all started to crash again even at other airports So I have deleted the full install and started again. I will try and get it running but, returning to P3D V4 is looking good at this time Regards Bob
CapnKittn
The GB South and Central are unusable for me. I can successfully start a flight at Birmingham and a few other airports, but many crash on loading before the session appears on my screen. I conducted a successful flight from Birmingham to Duxford, then headed south and crashed near Stansted. Other places, I can fly for a while, then XP stutters a few times and crashes. I have no problems anywhere else. The installation went smoothly. Not sure what to do next.
Nick Cooper
Hello, welcome to the forums. rlaycock
Hi all A quick update from me I started this thread almost a week ago and last night I found my issues are most probably hardware related. The brand new SSD I got so I could fit ORBX true earth was faulty with lots of bad sectors etc. I have replaced it and I am currently re installing GB North as (I did not get around to backing it up). Thanks again for the help and support offered. Bob
