downscc
North polar flight observed polar sea ice in distant, replaced by water textures block by block as flight progressed. I have no idea if summer sea ice exists at N78 E168 but the visual effect was that there is ice except where I am flying and the ice free zone moves with me. I do have Frozen Surface (In Winter Only) checked in Vector control panel. What is the correct setting to see polar sea ice (before global warming removes it)? If the ice-to-water effect is not intentional then please note this as a bug. Although this effect persisted for a couple of hours of flight, a good representative waypoint is AMATI N78 00 00.0 E168 58 24.0.
Nick Cooper
Hello, the frozen water in winter feature is indeed not working correctly and never has. Please untick the box in the Vector control panel. I believe that you can read that this is a limitation of the simulator, though I have never seen a comment one way or the other from Pilot's. Captain Lars
Alas, frozen water in winter never worked on the sea. I brought up such a feature, but none of the forum patrons here ever responded. It seems that such "detail" is of no big concern for most simmers here.
