simmerhead2
Hi. Mount Everest is covered by city textures. Anyone else see this? I run P3D v3.4 with ORBX scenery exclusively. I have all the FTX Global products + North American regions and Norway installed, and 15-20 FTX Airports on top of that.
simmerhead2
Anyone care to check their Mount Everest surroundings with FTX Global + Vector installed?

simmerhead2
Holy cow! What might have gone wrong on my end? Maybe I'll have to to a reinstall of FTX Global. Could it be some of the openLC (Europe or NA) that has messed things up? I've got no other texture or landclass products on my computer.
simmerhead2
No luck reinstalling FTX Global. Everything looks the same, so I'm out of the Himalayas for a while. Gonna do a complete reinstall when the new ORBX Central launches anyway...

Just for the record simmerhead2, my Mount Everest looks exactly like yours. This is with FTX Global + OLC Europe + Vector in P3D v. 3.4 Cheers, Randy
simmerhead2
Thanks Randy! Seems to be an OpenLC problem then. As said before, I've got both Europe and NA versions of openLC installed. I can only speculate, but some texture for Asia has probably been overwritten by a city texture by the installation routine.
Holger Sandmann
Hi guys, interesting. Turns out that there are significant differences in the global default landclass files for the Everest area that explain what Nick is seeing in FSX and others in P3D. Neither landclass is particularly accurate for the valley areas but what's weird is that the P3D developers chose to place a semi-urban class instead of some open farmland with villages. Also, that urban class auto-switches to dense forest at medium slope gradient, which explains the broken-up look in the screenshots above. In short, the differences in FSX and P3D don't have anything to do with Global Base or openLC (turning off openLC doesn't change anything visually). For a more accurate depiction of the area, a custom landclass/texture add-on would be required, like the planned openLC Asia. Cheers, Holger
simmerhead2
Thanks Holger. Didn't think about that, but it seems Lockheed Martin has screwed up here. I know they did an overhaul of the landclass early in the P3D development, so I installed my copy of Prepar3D v1.4 - and yes, the problem is the same there!
