Happy Birthday Gerold, have a great day my friend!

Little late but Happy Birthday mate, hope you had a good one.

Being Scottish myself I enjoy a good pipe band. W. Pa. has a large Scottish population so Ligonier is the perfect place for the games. I just attended the 2023 games that just ended recently and is only a few miles away. The pipe bands are local from the Pittsburgh area.

Indeed Rob and the last dance of the night was always The Five Satins - In The Still Of The Night from 1956. How can you forget these classics. I hope to all you old guys these bring back a lot of good memories and to the young ones, you don't know what you missed not growing up in the 50s.

I mean 1959 Rob.😄

Getting sweaty wasn't a good look. There were more slow songs which was a good thing. Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners hailed from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania my hometown. The lead singer was Jimmy Beaumont. He died on 7 October 2017 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, a few miles from me. For another great selection by the Skyliners try "This I Swear". There #1 hit song from 1859, you probably danced to this one.

This was the end of the big band era and the beginning of Rock 'n Roll. This is why this song by "Bill Haley and the Comets" "Rock around the clock" (1955) is so iconic and legendary. It is in the Smithsonian Institute and museum in Washington D.C. as the song that coined the phrase Rock & Roll. The rest as they say is history. Elvis, Bo Diddley and so on. The new sound From Bo that shook the world in the mid 50s. RIP brothers, it was a heck of a ride.

You remember the Friday and Saturday night dances, girls on one side boys on the other side of the room until that song came on.

When music was music and no auto-tune or anything else just pure talent.

Quite emotional for me Wayne, as flight 93 flew right over my head at about 2000ft on its way to Skanksville, Pa about 30min from me.
