5.7 Gb at Bristol Intl using TrueEarth GB with all the settings at 100%

So far, KBUR for myself (new purchase) has the highest load in factor for VRAM at 4.7 GB.  That's out of 7.1 (or so) available on my GTX1070 (non Ti).  Most of everywhere, including the busy happenings at KSAN, are about 3.0 to 3.3 GB's, so a lot of stuff is rendering at or near KBUR. Visually, it sure looks that way! I used to live in Van Nuys, so it's fun to fly in the area. BTW, I have never seen A.I. road traffic as much on the clean and clear roads as  since v5.2 especially the L.A. and Valley interstates. It LOOKS, like I'm home...LOLOLOLOLOL.  Trying to get out of the Valley, along I-10 towards Disney Land, ...was real torture, EVEN in the late 60's!

In that first shot we can see why we still need Vector in 5.2 . Two fine shots Sir .

Thanks Brad...I really love the fact that roads are now fully formed, literally right out to the horizon event!  Primary and Secondary. If they are, you know that everything else is as well!

  3. Thanks guys...they really please me, when viewed at 4K! :)  Not too fancy, but just a couple that I V'ed...(smile).  The three part wakes and particle effects are pretty fabulous to my view, and I hope that MSFS gets this treatment. If so, that would be just great! We would all win in that!!!!

KBUR loaded in at 4.7 GB's as I started to taxi around the airport, snooping....that was the largest VRAM load in, to date. Lot's of stuff happening in them, thar, parts!  ;)

I would like to see regions up the east coast from Florida, and in the South wester US.  P3Dv5.2 is such a big advance in flight sim that more regions would be great.

Totally agree!  For instance, I have truly never seen just what was in Regional South California.  I could just cry over all those WASTED flight sim years...running versions since RTM FSX, until now, P3D v5.2.   What a waste of time...now that I can see just EXACTLY what I had paid for...and what I had NEVER SEEN, until five days ago.  What a waste of time all those years were....flying over 'Spray Paint'.   That was always the 'default' experience, so I didn't know any better.  I do now....so c'mon Orbx...start producing again for P3D v5   Create the baseball diamond...and the 'player's will bring cash....

  6. First off, wanted to type that KBUR (Burbank/Bob Hope Airport) and surrounding square miles is a stunning purchase!  What great work, Orbx.  This is right now my Default plop down, as I am exploring my S.C. Regional.

My request;   can you please create United States EAST COAST Regions....from Maine down to Florida please!  For P3D v5.2 and greater.  You do...and they will be a buy the first day released!  As said, my re-experiencing   Southern California, in v5.2 is simply...stunning!  I could now, literally, spend months of sim time in this one Region alone.  The detail is incredible within this sim and version,...just incredible now.

So, Orbx,  please consider the East Coast of the United States for 'Fat' Regional treatment, ..and I will have C.C. in hand....

    Cheers!

    Hello,

for the record, the aircraft was fully tested and for most people, it does not display the characteristics

    that you have experienced.

I can only replicate them if I attempt to fly the aircraft using the Legacy flight model.

In that case, it does indeed display most of those characteristics.

Hello Nick....just got back from a successful flight using the EA-7...which tells me, that MSFS still has 'hidden' bugs...and here is why I think so:

    I own MSFS Premium Deluxe.

As stated, since opening this thread...all of the failures to fly, rotate maintain climb...with every case...a severe wing drop...stall, and crash to a Morgue slab.

With reading your post...I reloaded from Orbx Central again...and then fired up MSFS Premium Deluxe.  When at my 'home screen', the very first thing I did was to go to check out what FLIGHT MODEL was showing in the box.  It was MODERN.  Ok...thought as much...it was showing throughout my inibility to control this aircraft.

What did I do?   I on purpose,  APPLED  LEGACY,  and then imediatly after that, once more applied MODERN, with APPLY locking it in

I then, and only then, brought up my HANGAR, and selected the white default livery EA-7, and selected KPGD.  Crossing my fingers...I took to the threshold, and started my roll.  I gained the air...started a stable climb at 70 Knots,  and with a 5 percent climb rate, made out to 2,800 at a climb speed of 70-75 Knots, at full throttle.  I did three circuits of KPGD, and then turned onto final, landed with a controlled 'flair' and turned off of the runway I had taken off from.  Even at full throttle, I never could gain higher than around 70-80 Knots. (is this normal, with a ceiling height of reported 14,000 feet?)

I had a controlled landing at 55-60 Knots, and taxied to Civil.

My MSFS WAS on MODERN as it took me to my Home Page.  The only thing I did, that I had not done yesterday, was to actually cycle that setting from Modern, to Legacy, and right back to Modern, with an APPLY for each switch.  So....something is wonky.  Perhaps,  with the latest Nordic update (?!?!?!)   Even if the FLIGHT MODEL shows in the sim as MODERN, it might just be acting as LEGACY (!?!?!??!).  So...I finally got a controlled flight out of the plane.

I have a question.  Even at full throttle,  and barely a 3 percent climb rate on the horizon....can this plane only generate 70-80 knots, and only that, at full throttle...because that is all I can obtain.  I did not have any wing dip or threat of stall even at 60 knots...but is this plane so truly underpowered?  How do you get to 10,000 feet?

So,  with having to (as John did...) to reinstall the plane twice into MSFS, and then purposefully switch from MODERN to LEGACY, back to MODERN , something is indeed going on here.  MSFS?   Wonky coding of the Flight Model?   Anyways...I got a first controlled flight, but only in doing something nobody including myself would normally do, to recycle a setting that came up from MSFS initialization as showing MODERN for flight model.  Just a head's up to other readers....you might want to cycle Modern to Legacy and back to Modern with applies...NO MATTER that your MSFS showed you in MODERN mode.   You might (hidden bug...) just NOT BE!

I deleted it Nick but will reload and try once more....with  being certain that MODERN is showing as enabled before I load a take a flight. I will report shortly. I can't imagine that if you have MODERN as the flight model on, it would not color that characteristic....but never say never.  If you replicated all that I stated...I'll try again with MODERN in the mask, enabled. TTYL.

    Hello javk,

because of the substantial update to the vector data in P3D v5, the difference between default and Vector is less obvious.

You also get a few more art assets with Vector, including highway underlays, and Railroads.  Also, Prime, Secondary, and Tertiary road networks as well.

Have you made sure that you are using the Modern flight model and not the Legacy model?

Yes John, and thanks for that head's up. It was on Modern...all my flights are with that as enabled.  I took two birds after I changed up planes, and they were wonderfully behaved...rotation,  climb, power...all of it.   The EA-7 is going back to the manufacturer, lol!   Tried it...and the experience was a fail.  Thanks for posting!

I have all the TE products, I haven't put them in 5.2 yet, still not 100% sure how much I like them, have them all in XP and love 'em but they seem different in 5.2, I guess it's just the way a different sim looks......I am impressed with the performance so far and it does seem that the vram is sorted as my 1070 seems to be coping nicely.....

TE is killer in XP!  A 'gotta' have. I think it's the way XP handles color pallets. Deeper, 'glossier'....and P3D is more pastel in nature.

TE is the way to go IMHO , I would never go back to Regional scenery .
Interesting you enjoy CityScape Charleston  , I was very disappointed

in the product  ; for me the best CityScape is Honolulu .

Hi John, I don't have Honolulu, but my wife and I head down to Myrtle Beach and Charleston, for some vacation time.  I actually really like it...as it does to my mind represent the topography of the city and surrounding region...especially the estuaries. I' love to see it native for v5.2!

I read the REFUND policy and have made my request. Thank you Doug!  Much appreciated.

Post Edit: Doug, I am about to  uninstall it from MSFS and will expect it (the EA-7 Optica) to be deleted from my Account after refund.  Thank you!

Post Edit 2:  Now uninstalled from MSFS, using Orbx Central.

I just fixed your typo. :)

Thanks...and Doug...I can't fly this plane...can't keep it in the air (flight model issues?)...and the sound of the brake lever 'clicking sound'  keeps looping...when moving at taxi...with no use of the Brake Lever.  I can't use this purchase, Doug...could you start a refund request for me?  If not...how to achieve that?  I just bought this plane, this morning. I do formally request a refund of purchase.  Thanks.  Doug, I'm just not happy with the product, as is.

  15. 9 hours ago, John Dow said:

Totally uninstalled.  The click click is probably the ignition key up the top of the pillar, mine was animating as though it was an normal starter key going into the start and out again.

John, the click that I am hearing as I move at taxi, or attempt to take off from a roll...is the sound you will hear, if you move the Brake Lever, up or down...it 'clicks'.  I get that no matter if the brake is off....and laying flat against the console.  Is driving me crazy enough not to use this product, even if I didn't have other issues with it, namely, I can't barely get this to rotate, and stay in the air...all my attempts this morning...since a double (your recommendation) reinstall of the files....to take a flight has ended in a left wing, drop and stall (can't get the engine to produce power...and yes, it is running with both fuel valves open, and the Fuel Pump set to on, and Fuel Mixture set to 100 percent rich,...for take off roll out) . I have not modified the load out of the plane.  Stock from installation. Right now...this product and purchase is literally unusable.  I hope Doug will offer a solution, or will get a refund going for me.

  16. 1 hour ago, Doug Sawatzky said:

    Fixed.

Doug, what is fixed.  I double installed, (had to) and got the engine to start...and found out that the clicking sound is the sound of the brake handle moving up or down, but it keeps making that sound even if the brake is off and the handle is not 'moved'.  Also, I can NOT get into the air with a full length runway lift off, (trim is set to take-off)...and if I do, barely,  the plane (flight model) is incontrollable...and my wings drop, in stall, and I crash to the ground.  I also can NOT (no engine power!?!??!)  get barely past 60 knots...and in the air...nothing over 60...which leads to a drop wing stall and crash to the ground.  What do you mean was fixed?   As is...this aircraft is unflyable at v1.01 ...and the sound of the brake lever constantly firing off in the sound module (cockpit environment), with no movement up or down, is intolerable as is.  Thank you...and waiting for your reply.

I had TrueEarth Washington and Oregon installed for P3D4.5 but I hated the purplish roads and other seemingly discoloured textures. I tried to minimize the effect but wasn’t happy, so I removed them but interestingly Florida seemed ok.

Is the purple road discolouration (especially in cities) for TrueEarth still apparent in 5.2? If so, any suggestions how to minimize it.

Putting up with it is not an option

    Thanks,

    Roger

Florida has been a good title to own.  It really looks good running inside v5.2!   I think that I will just be quite happy with my Regionals, that cover the entire West Coast from Baha to Alaska...and as I stated,  seasons are in play with Regional Titles.

I really like Orbx's San Diego (it blends in very well with Regional Southern California) and looks stunning with high FPS upon the property, and flying around the square miles near it.  Coming in for approach...is real eye-candy. I couldn't even think of buying this title for v4.5 or v5.1, as the FPS would be crawling, and I would be approaching 'spray paint'....!!!!   Yes...P3D v5.2 was a real 'my system' game changer.

Just go to the freeware section of Lorby's website and download Lorby addon organizer and the instruction PDF. You would have to create a standard folder to install your scenery into which would have two subfolders, Scenery, and Texture. In the Lorby Addon Organizer under the scenery function you would need to navigate to that scenery folder, and select all subfolders. Click add in Lorby and then at the bottom click save. Lorby will automatically convert it to an XML entry and it should show up in P3D 4/5. But do read the PDF also. I just gave you a light description.

Thanks for that and hope Orbx does do a full native migration in the near future!

Same here. MSFS will always be my sim of choice and the flightsim world is moving forward. This understandably has created anger among some of those who are still using the older platforms, and some have invoked the age-old tactic of fear/uncertainty/doubt (FUD) as each of their previous criticisms has been addressed by Asobo. Suggesting that MSFT "could" abandon the incredibly successful platform is FUD. MS isn't going to abandon MSFS (a showcase for Azure/Bing) and, even if they did, we would still be able to use it AND companies like Orbx could make new imagery to make up for anything lost from Bing. It is disappointing but hardly surprising to see someone resort to that, but the truth is that FlightSim runs fine (though not as pretty) without streaming and if you don't understand that, please don't spread misinformation about it.

Now back to flying my "new" study-level DC-6 into Kai-Tak.

I didn't spread 'anything'.  I made a point. The point...despite your allusion that it was a tactic...(!?!?!?!?!?!?),  to spread misinformation....what misinformation?  Specify...  I have seen M.S. abandon two flight sim platforms, that had users...and is that 'misinformation' as well.  My point...stated again...with no 'fear'...or 'emotion'...is that with my example of P3D,  it would not be a bad idea, to have it fully stocked as your fully self-contained BACK UP flight sim platform, if FOR ANY REASON,  MSFS dependent upon a Real Time  Scenery Server would not be available for a flight sequence.  Nothing more.  What exactly,  was misinformative regarding that point?

    Cheers,

Let's not get this thread locked with what was a person's 'intent', other than what was actually posted.  That's what gets threads locked. The other contributors of their thoughts, would NOT get a thread locked.

Thanks John...so that is a bug then...I'll try the plane again...and hope my uninstall and then install, and then verify, will correct this. I'm hoping that click click and repeat...is not supposed to be present...or this is a bust purchase....  Thanks.

    Hello,

I have moved this from the P3D v5 forum, on the assumption that it must be the Orbx MSFS version of the Optica.

I am no expert but there are apparently in game checklists to lead you through what you should do.

Here is the page from the user guide.
