Now that my sort of woman, can't even get my wife near a GA. Took her to Archerfield for a look, big mistake, anything smaller than a 737, forget it.

Sure. We go back a long way. She picked me up at the county fair carnival 64 years ago. She was 12 and I was 14. We've been married for 55 years and she's still putting up with me So here we are...the ideal couple...a grumpy old man married to a tough old broad.
Guess Country Fairs are off the list now. Hilarious comment, brought laughter tears to my eyes, thanks mate.

Sign me up too. I've been playing golf for 64 years and simming for 43 of those years so my wife REALLY knows what it's like to live with a grumpy old man.
LOL, and she's still living with you?

My wife and her girlfriend were having a discussion about who was worse off husband wise. Her friends husband is a golfer, my wife is saddled with a flight simmer - of course. The end result, my wife won - Golfers are gone all day, 18 holes plus a session at the 19th hole. My wife has only to walk into my computer room and there I am, so from that point, we have a winner, but not so fast my friends, her girlfriend says it's nice to have some peace when her husband is at golf, my wife agrees that must be very nice not having to listen to your husband whinging all day like hers. This brings me to the point of the title of the "new club".
My wife has proposed "The Grumpy Old Farts" club, and me as the President. She says she has never seen so much door slamming, and heard such profanity coming from my mouth except for the last couple of days (release of update 5). I said I would apologise, except it's hard to talk when you're getting your mouth washed out with soap and water.

Hi Don,
Curious why you want a Community Orbx folder. Orbx addons are generally installed to your main Community folder by default unless you have created an outside library in OC and point the installer to that folder. Is it for mods that are related to Orbx products?
Hi Rob,
AS you have probably read in my earlier posts, I'm pretty hopeless with computer techy stuff, so I rely on what I read here. I thought I had to separate my folders to hopefully eliminate problems relating to MSFS latest update. I thought the best thing to do was to set up separate folders Orbx, and other sceneries - US, UK, Europe etc. No I don't have an outside library. So far I've stayed away from freeware sceneries, due to a few problems I had with them in FSX, and I consider developers such as NZA, Aerosoft, etc to be "quality" developers that shouldn't under normal conditions create a problem for me, of course there are exceptions to all rules. Right now I'm on the verge of putting MSFS on hold until MS sorts the problems out. P3D is looking a much better option and error free.
Thanks for helping.

What is the exact path to your Community folder? C:\Users\doncr\appdata\local\packages\microsoftflightsimulator\localcache\packages\community

I'm trying to add a couple of Community folders, but keep getting the message "Your organisation does not allow you to place this file here." I tried to add the folder into the Packages folder, didn't work, and then the Community Folder that didn't work either. Someone help with this please thanks.

And just one more casual note, after a test flight from Glasgow to Edinburgh, fine trim sensitivity has gone again, they had fixed this but now its backs to hundreds of turns on the wheel again to make a difference on my Honeycomb Bravo unit, even my stick I have set up as an electric trimmer needs multitudes of presses to make things happen, they had fixed this bug and have broken it again it seems
The Menu bar sticking bug too, there is/was a good community fix for this, but Asobo ignored it, its still there after HF2 they just dont listen ... also this whole remove all community stuff is a ridiculous suggestion IMHO, they said from start they welcome third party developers, but we do it, it should not be necessary IMHO, its to try to keep their bug report feedback to a minimum, they are supposed to be working with them, so it should be fine ... right?
Sim looks gorgeous when it happens and when it does not crash, but IMHO, its going one step fwd and then two steps back recently patch wise, double developing for X-Box console too cant help without employing vast new talented staff that take time to train on this project, can it.
I'm going back to P3D, will look at this sim later in year once they get more focused.Yep have to agree with you my friend, I think MS have bitten off more than they can chew - as the saying goes. Right now they have taken the fun out of flight simming. Every time I start up the sim, things I fixed last time are broken again there is no joy in having to fix, fix, fix. I flew in P3D today to ease the pain, what a joy, sure the scenery isn't as good, but at FL 350/400 in a 737/787 it really doesn't matter, well to me, because I'm flying.

Well I think MSFS with the presence of some incompatible add-ons is unusable, find those and disable them and wait til there's a fix, and in the meantime MSFS is definitely usable across a range of scenery and aircraft.
I guess it depends on your system John, what I fix today is not working next time I log on, it goes back to all wrong, you're not having this problem then - lucky you

For me, I'm just setting up a couple of extra community folders, the rest can wait until I see what both of the updates will do to correct things - MSFS as it is right now is unusable.

Thanks Gulf, I appreciate you adding your "two cents" worth. My computer experience is very limited, having worked for a company with it's own IT guy and the rest of us just having to point and click. You don't gain much computer knowledge this way, and I probably have learned more here seeking answers/info, than anywhere else. It has been a huge leap. Thanks to guys like you, Nick and John, I am slowly learning how some of it works, in most cases enough to get by on, until MSFS has a major stuff up like now, really takes the fun out of it, messing about trying to make things work.
I will set up a couple more Community folders to hopefully make things run easier/better, bit of a PITA, but one does what one has to do. I have found that one has to be very careful with a lot of the information on YouTube, or maybe I should say "misinformation" and conflicting posts, it can lead to mass confusion to the uneducated in computers.
Thanks again for your input.

Thanks John,
Renaming the folder is only a step to hide it, so another folder can then be named Community, and accessible to MSFS. Useful for hiding all scenery add-ons, so that add-ons can be individually moved into the new community folder for checking. Nick's multiple folder system is a different kettle of fish.
So as I understand it, if I have all my files, (Airports/Scenery) in CommunityX folder and I want to fly from Brisbane to Sydney, I need to transfer both of those files into my main Community Folder for MSFS to find them and load them. -

Hello,
there is no need to delete anything.
An update to MSFS does not touch the Community folder, I have no intention of trying to uninstall MSFS to see if that does.
The best way to disable the Community folder is to rename it to CommunityX.
In my experience, an installation of MSFS away from its default location produces no restrictions on the Community folder.
Just as well really, I have 11 of them, all with slightly different names.
Thanks Nick. Sorry, you'll have to excuse my lack of computer expertise. If I rename my Community folder CommunityX as you suggest, does that mean the computer wont be able to access that folder? If so, what's the point, sure you keep all of the files within that folder, but if the computer can't find/access them, then I don't understand. You have several Community folders, so when you click on a place/scenery/airport, you want to fly to, does the computer automatically find it in the relevant Community folder?
Thanks for taking the time to help.

I've been doing a lot of reading re the update, and a lot of you guys, deleting your community folder. So, if I follow suit, does that mean I have to reinstall all the files Orbx, Aerosoft etc into my community folder? I read that some of you are having trouble with "freeware" scenery files, I don't have any, so I guess I can cross that off the list. The thought of having to reinstall all my other stuff, well nah, not on, so that being the case I guess I'm stuck with what I have, which is the occasional freeze and having to fix my views.
Microsoft, software developers for years, sim developer - FSX, and with all this experience, can't produce a updated sim, (original MSFS), and then an updated version without creating more problems. So guys, do I REALLY have to delete my community folder?

I have given up on MSFS I will just stick with P3Dv5 until they get there act together
yep, I can relate to your frustration, Feeling a lot of it right now. Doing most of my flying in P3Dv4 right now, I tackle MSFS problems when I can handle the frustration, and not chuck the computer out the window.

Busy trying to fix my views and control issue's with MSFS latest update, that I didn't notice .....in my Content Manager I have 7 files not installed.
CGL, Community, Contentinfo, FSDG, Materiallibs, Scenery and Simobjects. I can select all of them individually or with "select all" option. When I do, I don't get a box to click to install.
Anyone else have this problem and know a fix. Thanks

Thanks John, interesting vid. It helped, but unfortunately doesn't go into my problem deep enough. The default explanation that I was after helped, but I still have other problems. I've found another Youtube vid by "Squirrel" tutorial 3, that goes into views quite extensively, I haven't had time to have a good look into that as yet. Another question, not sure if it's connected to my current problem, in the "Discovery" series, They open with the aircraft outside, the screen that has the flight instruments showing, when you change to a different camera view - outside, say drone, you have no controls, the joystick and rudder pedals don't work, seems weird. Appreciate your thoughts on that - thanks.

After the recent big update from Microsoft, my camera's had changed from before the update, no problem, I can fix that - wrong, I made it worse. Best way to fix that is to revert to default and start afresh, problem is, I've been through everything in MSFS and cannot find how to get back to default. Advice please.
