  1. Hello Dave,
I think that what we are all finding difficult to relate to is that

there seems to be a disconnect between the airstrip in Scotland that is modelled
    and the descriptive text.

This is what the internet has to say about Glenswinton:

    Quote

GLENSWINTON: Private airstrip    (Aka GLENSWINTON FARM)

Location:  2.5nm SSW of Gibbshall on the A712, 3nm NNE of Parton on the A713 and 8.5nm NW to NNW of Castle Douglas

Period of operation:  2011 to present day

    Runway: 2011:     03/21   380   compacted gravel

                    2019:     03/21   425   compacted gravel

So all references to World War One and Two and its place in aviation history do not seem to fit.

  2. Here is a real world visit to the one near to Castle Douglas:
Trips & Airports - Andreas to Glenswinton (euroga.org)
The internet has nothing to indicate any usage of this prior to 2011.

It also states that RAF Merryfield was opened in 1944.
    Could the description

Originally serving as a military airfield during World War I, it played a crucial role in defending the skies over the UK.
After the war, the airfield transitioned into a civilian facility, becoming a hub for flying clubs and private aviators.

be for a third facility somewhere?

  3. Hello,
I doubt that your proposed course of action will resolve this, as the problem seems to be with Orbx Direct.
A reinstallation of Orbx Central will indeed pick up all of your installed products, though you may well need to recreate
the Orbx Central Library settings, if you have used that installation method.

  4. Hello,
Marcus is aware of this and is working as hard as possible.
He wrote this on the Discord channel:

Been working on it now in the morning, hopefully it can be a quick turn-around and I can have a patched version ready for testing tomorrow. Only negative news on this is that the changes needed will also mean that the City Update will be required for a flawless experience from now on, I can't make it work perfect both with default streamed material and the city update. I've also removed quite a few of the POI's we added as the photogrammetry looked better in some cases. So trying to keep the best of our Stockholm version and combine it with the City Update-version. Must say though that I'm very glad to finally see the photogrammetry update being released, makes a huge difference for the Stockholm experience and the Bromma approaches became 10 times more entertaining 😉

  5. Hello John and John,
I have reverted the version on Orbx Direct to 1.2.0, from 1.3.0.
That should enable you to apply the fix of using the earlier version.
To be sure, please uninstall and then reinstall the whole thing.
Please let me know if it then works as expected.

Do you know whether AH are aware and if they are, are they working on a fix?

  6. Hello,

the internet has the answer to most things these days and this is probably the answer to this mystery:

    Quote

He (Donald Pleasance) served as aircraft wireless-operator with No. 166 Squadron in Bomber Command, with which he flew almost sixty raids against the Axis Powers over occupied Europe.

    Quote

Originally formed in WW 1, 166 Squadron underwent a number of restructures up until 1943 when it reformed as a Heavy Bomber Squadron equipped with Lancasters.

This extract from the Ministry of Defence (UK) site:

No. 166 was re-formed in January 1943, at Kirmington, Lincolnshire - again as a bomber squadron. It remained based at Kirmington throughout the remainder of the war and, flying Wellingtons and Lancasters, participated in many major raids, and also played an active part in Gardening (minelaying). The squadron won at least two DSOs, two CGMs, 117 DFCs and 108 DFMs in the Second World War.

The WW2 RAF Kirmington is now Humberside Airport, just as the WW2 RAF  Finningley is now Doncaster Sheffield Airport,
    though presently it is closed.

I am sure that most of you know that during WW2, anywhere in Great Britain that was flat was used as an aircraft carrier for anything that could fly away and attack the enemy.

Where I live is in the Vale of York, which is flat and there are four WW2 airfields within a six mile radius of my house.
One is a gliding club and industrial estate, one is a flying club and industrial estate, one is a huge pig farm, a dragway and some industry
and the fourth is the home of the Yorkshire Air Museum, a 2 mile runway that has track days and sometimes world record speed attempts and I believe the occasional aircraft departure and of course, an industrial estate. :)

Most of Lincolnshire, where Humberside Airport is, is also littered with WW2 airport sites.
The ever-helpful internet suggests that there are 46 of them.

  7. Hello,
Orbx Central gets the installation location from the last line in the usercfg.opt file.
Usually, that is to be found at:
    C:\Users\Your user name\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\UserCfg.opt
It is a text file and can be opened using Notepad.
Orbx Central installs either into the Community folder, or into an Orbx Central Library, depending on your choice.
If you chose an Orbx Central Library, you might need to run Orbx Central\Settings\Help\Sync Simulator.
If you chose into the simulator, Orbx Central looks at the location in the usercfg.opt file and then for a Community folder
    in that location.
If it doesn't find one, it creates one.
Hopefully, this information will enable you to determine what has gone wrong for you.
