rjoosterloo
Hi all, I noticed that FSX ES gives me blurry ground textures, when compared to FSX Boxed. Below are 2 comparison shots, taken at W16 Monroe, parking 1. You can see the clear difference. I run both sims at the same settings, with texture_max_load at 2048. Also I have Global Texture Resolution set to "Very High". Is anyone else seeing this? FSX boxed: FSX SE: This is just an example, but I see it at other airports as well. I hope it's something in my setup, because I was busy switching over from FSX boxed to FSX SE. But this is really a showstopper. Thanks! Nick Cooper
It looks to me that you have land detail textures active in FSX but not in FSX Steam.
rjoosterloo
Nope, I have that option checked as well, in both FSXes
Holger Sandmann
Hi there, in that case you probably have different versions of the semitransparent bumpmap texture active that gets switched on and off with that checkbox (Orbx offers its own replacement version via the FTX Aero tool). It's named "detail1.bmp" and resides in \Scenery\World\Texture. Make a backup of the current version in FSX-SE and then copy & paste your current FSX (boxed) version into that folder. rjoosterloo
Indeed that did the trick! I hadn't used the FTX Aero tool yet in FSX SE to set a different bump map. So I now just selected a different bump map in the FTX Aero Tool and hey presto! Good looking ground textures again. Thanks a lot!
Lucas80
Hello, Holger said: "Orbx offers its own replacement version via the FTX Aero tool" Do you mean first section of AERO window named: Detail Bump Map? But in REX 4 Direct there is posibility to change airport textures (bookmark "Terrain Bumpmap") - so using both things does not make sense I think - right? Lucas80
Anyone could take a look on previous post?
Holger Sandmann
Hi Lucas, yes and yes, they both exchange the same detail1.bmp file so you'll need to choose one or the other, whichever version you prefer. Cheers, Holger
