I get the following error when I try to apply the mod and when I have attached a screenshot of what the scenery looks like when the FSX is run as well. There are also instruments that are missing in the instrument panel. I have included the error logs as well. uncle_adolph Posted April 29, 2015 Share Posted April 29, 2015 You may have purchased through Steam but the error messages point to the directory for the boxed version. Clearly you have, or had, that installed. The two versions simply do not co-exist. You need to ensure all traces of the boxed version are removed from your computer and then you need to fix the registry entries to get Orbx to point to the correct path. I would suggest you use the fixer tool available from Flight 1. Then you can re-install your Orbx products. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dc3king Posted April 29, 2015 Author Share Posted April 29, 2015 So I definitely never had anything other than the steam edition installed, this computer was built for me specifically for FSX and given to me for Christmas and the only version ever installed was the Steam edition. However, in the "Documents" folder there are two folders, one titled "Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition Files" and "Flight Simulator X Files" which leads me to believe that something weird is going on. I ran the registry fix and will attempt to re-install the Orbx products when I find the email with the serial numbers, probably tomorrow. I just think it is strange that this issue has arisen despite the fact that there was only ever one version of the software installed. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

That can be the only answer. And if it was given to you at Christmas it would almost certainly have been built before the Steam version was released so the boxed version would have been the only one to test. Of course, you could simply ask the guy who built it and then you'll know. But it looks like in trying to do his job properly he's actually created more of a problem. So since I last posted I completely reformatted my computer to remove all traces of any previous FSX installations and installed it exclusively from Steam. I also used the registry fix tool located here: http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=libraryto ensure that the registry entry points to the right file and I am now getting an error when I attempt to install the mods that is absolutely baffling me. I have checked online and all the references to this error seem to point to the possibility of having had other versions of FSX installed previously. This is obviously not the case in this situation as any traces of previous versions were annihilated when the computer was reformatted and the operating system (Windows 7 Home Premium) was re-installed. I have included the error below. Any help or advice would be most welcome. It has now been 6 months and counting since I got these mods and I have yet to see any of them working. uncle_adolph Posted May 11, 2015 Share Posted May 11, 2015 You sure you re-formatted.....and didn't just re-install Windows? I did a re-format about a month back and at first did exactly that because I'd missed the appropriate button.....which wasn't that obvious. It wasn't until I saw that rather than having a completely clean C drive it already had 200 Gb's used that I realised what I had done. After correctly re-formatting I installed FSX:SE and had no problems with it....and the registry tool wasn't required. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
