Bruce Hamilton
Sounds like you might've originally had FSX on the D drive?
Nick Cooper
Here is a link to a guide I wrote. The section on the registry wil show you how to redirect the installers to the location you want. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/83440-how-to-move-fsx-from-one-drive-to-another/
David T Ogden
yes, I was orig on the D drive, thank you for the guide!
Wolter van der Spoel
the installers are programmed to look for the registry key of the fsX.exe, if fsX was moved to another location and the registry entry was not adapted it will keep pointing the installer to the original location. spud
Wolter et al:, I recall that there used to be a program available to aid in this program. Can't recall exact name but something along the line of 'Registry Fixer' (??). It is no longer listed in the support section of ORBX and my copy went south with the old computer when it died a smoking death. Any one remember it? If so would it help with this problem? Can we get it back on the support page if it helps?

spud
Aha! I was looking in "Support" not "Freeware". Thanks Spirt for the link, gittin' old ain't fer sissises! Wolter can you answer my query; would this utility be useful for those like David who have moved the location of their FSX and had not updated the Registry data? IE: Would running the utility correct the registry to point to the correct present FSX location? If so it would sure help a lot of "movers and shakers"!!! Wolter van der Spoel
simple answer : YES run the tool, see what it says and then point it to the correct location where the fsX. exe is, at least that's my recollection of how it functions
David T Ogden
I d/l the fsx registry fix tool and ran it but the installer for ORBX still wants to install to the D drive, which is nonexistent in my computer. However, I followed the info posted by Nick and it worked!!! thank you Nick!!!
