Rianur
Hi I am new to FTX. I installed the Iceland Demo and ran it on FSX no problem. Then I purchased and installed (in this order) FTX Global Base 1.1 (ran it in FSX no problem) FTX Global update 1.2 FTX: NA Blue USA/Canada Northern Rocky Mountains Now, when I try to Apply the North America, FTX Central seems hung. The wait cursor is still spinning after an hour. (I've killed it and restarted, and it's still running) When I look at the Windows 7 task manager, FTX Central is showing no cpu activity, nor is the memory moving. How long does this typically take? Is it busted? Thanks. Order Number: FSS0314499
Wolter van der Spoel
did you run the latest library files after the install ? if not then please do so, please make sure you select the correct version for your SIM, available here => https://fullterrain.com/support
Rianur
Hi, I just now installed the Orbx Libraries for FSX, and unfortunately the behavior still remains: nothing seems to happen (other than the wait cursor) when I click Apply for the North America region. btw: It says North America in FTX Central but I only purchased/installed NA Blue USA/Canada Northern Rocky Mountains
Rianur
A bit more info: When I click Apply in FTX Central, 2 windows processes start: conhost.exe (Console Window Host) cmd (Win Command Processor) Killing the first will kill the second, and it will un-hang FTX Central. Is there a debug where I can see what command it is getting hung-up on?

Ben McClintock
Does it hang when you select "Global" too? Or just North America?

Rianur
Hi Devs, I'm certainly willing to keep trying to make this work. Is there a debug mode I can run in? Could it be a privileges issue with file renaming or editing when the Apply Button is pressed? (I do run FTX Central as admin, and I did try turning off UAC in windows.) Thanks. bruce e
Hi, I am a little surprised & dismayed at the lack of support you are getting...................usually responses are pretty good. I'm no guru but try this, uninstall FTX NA so you are just left with FTX Global Run FSX.............then close fsx Reinstall FTX NA & all patches Reinstall latest libraries Open FTX Central ...select NA & click apply Hope this works. Rianur
Hi Bruce, Thanks for replying to this thread. I will try your suggestion. I looked in the PDFs and don't see instructions on uninstalling "FTX: NA Blue USA/Canada Northern Rocky Mountains." I apologize for being dense, but what is the procedure to uninstall NA? Rianur
Hi Bruce, Thanks again for replying! I followed the instructions on the page you linked to, with the caveat that when at this stage: FIRST set FTXCentral to [Default] that I have no 'Default' in FTX Central, only Global and North America. Global had the green check mark. Hybrid is not checked. After following the instructions for removing NA NRM, I launched FTX Central and see that North America is still listed. So I'm not sure if this uninstall really worked. I reinstalled orbx libs to see if that would help remove NA, but it did not. So even though North America appears in FTXCentral, I reinstalled it.. Still, the app hangs when I click "Apply". I uninstalled NA NRM, as per the above, and then uninstalled FTX Global. Then I reinstalled FTX Global and NA NRM. Still no joy: the app hangs when I click "Apply".
Rianur
I'm just in the process of uninstalling everything, including FSX. I will then re-install FSX to c:\fsx with UAC off. And then install FTX Global and NA NRM. My current assumption is that this is a permissions/access-control issue.
Rianur
Ok, That process (of re-installing everything - including FSX) did not solve the issue of FTX Central hanging when clicking Apply. Current situation: I ran Windows Process Explorer to see what is going on when the Apply button is pressed. What happens is a cmd.exe process is started: "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe" "C:\fsx\ORBX\Scripts\Backup\restore.bat" That is what is stopped/waiting/hung. All users have 'execute' privileges on this file. I can run restore.bat manually, with no error. If I Kill this process FTX Central unhangs and does the rest of the 'APPLY' operations (presumably). Going forward, when I want to Apply a region change: I will click Apply I will run this restore bat file manually while FTX Central is hung. I will kill the cmd.exe process that FTXCentral.exe spawns. Hopefully someone presents a better solution. For now I think I can switch regions. <fingers crossed>
Tim Harris
Bit out of my depth here with FTXcentral coding but I'll try Stumbling over the batch file indicates possible Windows7 security issues Are you running FTXcentral as admin? (right click desktop icon>>properties>>compatibility>>tick box marked 'Run this program as an administrator')
Rianur
Hi Tim, Yes, I am running FTX Central as Admin. The FTXCentral shortcut is set to run as Admin. I right-click to run as Admin, no change. I have the c:\fsx folder ignored by my anitvirus. I have the ftxcentral.exe ignored by AV. I notice, if I search these forums for the phrase "restore.bat", that there are multiple users reporting issues with FTXCentral running this bat fie, including the messages in this post: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/63506-since-installing-ftxg-i-keep-getting-this/?p=580562
