Win 8.1 and saitek

Recommended Posts

Theres nothing wrong with 8.1 inherently with control devices. Its either:

1. Poor setup of power policy turning USB devices off (fix this in device manager by going through every USB device that you want to turn off power saving for)

2. Poor device drivers from the IHV (independent hardware vendor)

In fact at an architectural level the direct input versions of the directX API are the same as windows 7

I run windows 8.1 and have no problems with my controllers. When I ran P3D without fsuipc sometimes the controllers would drop from the P3d menu but I would not loose control of the joystick, and thats a P3D application level bug. Now Im with FSUIPC that doesnt happen anymore but both P3D and FSUIPC use the DX API under direct input to do the job behind the scenes.

Win 8 is a multi media OS and always will be Gaming and the like was added as an afterthought. I doubt that you will get any usable information from Microsoft in this regard.
