FTX Central - Unhandled exception

Hi

When changing my regions using FTX Central the following error occurs (every time) right after i click "Apply".

After re-starting the program the region i selected before the crash has been applied, the green check mark appears next to it. Not sure if it actually works as it should though given the error message :

See the end of this message for details on invoking

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

<configuration>

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

Any idea as to what's going on here?

Forgot to include the ORBX Products report if it matters :

Done a ton of searching, unable to find anyone who's experiencing the same issue(s) as me. Any ideas as to what this could be?

I have the same problem.

Furthermore, when I switch from Global to North America and take my usual spot at KTTD, Ramp 6 Medium, I can immediately tell I am NOT looking at Orbx PNW. I am not really sure what I am looking at, but it is definitely not PNW. It does not even look like Hybrid - it looks like default P3DV1.4. I have to cycle the FTX Central program at least twice for the change to happen (without the Unhandled Exception error) before PNW "takes".

It is workable, but aggravating.

Same problem here!

I also noticed that the FTX Central loads exactly the same areas - in fact ALL the 90 areas existing - into the cfg, regardless if it set to North America, Oceania or Europe EU. Only when FTX Central is set to Global, it will load 33 areas into the cfg.

I see a lot of threads with the same FTX error without any solution to this important issue. Will the developer perhaps come up with a solution, please?

Hi guys,

for those of you that get the error each time you switch regions have a look at the two suggestions here: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/18785-ftx-central-errors/?p=163444 . Checking read/write permissions and/or running FTX Central as admin should fix it.

For those that have the issue intermittently we'd need more information on when it happens. The next time you get that error message don't close the window but rather switch to Windows Explorer and check whether the restore.bat file actually exists in \ORBX\Scripts\Backup\ and, if it does, whether its Read-only attribute is set or not (right-click on file > Properties > "General" tab > Attributes > "Read-only" checkbox). Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Holger

P.S.: Morten, the behavior you describe of FTX Central has been like that since day one and is intentional; the changes made by FTX Central are primarily regarding autogen textures and control files and not about the scenery library.

Ok, thanks Holger for that 'PS' information. At least nothing to worry about there!

It's very easy for me to provoke an exception error - It will turn up every time I switch back to FTX Global from either Oceania, Europe or North America.

The problem started around the time I installed the latest Library patch 140518.

There is NO restore.bat present here.

However, after the error, reopening the FTX Central and applying FTX Global again the restore.bat will now turn up in the directory! Seems as I have to do the procedure twice in order to make things work..?

The read only check box is blanc. There is no security restrictions at all to the file. I am already running the FTX Central as administrator.
