Help with error message

Hi Howard,

do you still have "Objectflow_SAK.dll" in \ORBX\FTX_NA\FTX_NA_SAK05_SCENERY\scenery? If so something must have gone wrong with it though I doubt it's related to DX10. First thing I'd do is reboot the PC. If that doesn't fix it try re-installing SAK.

Cheers, Holger

Hi Holger, well, this is getting very strange. I just reinstalled SAK, followed by the libs and the latest SAK update, rebooted and now I get a similar error message relating to NZ!!!

Hi Howard,

hmm, I was wondering how the SAK .dll would have become corrupted. This actually looks more like an issue with the dll.xml file in C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX. You can open it in Notepad or similar and copy & paste it as a quote here.

What is the last thing you did with FSX before the issue came up? In particular, did you install anything new or move installed add-ons around?

Cheers, Holger

Hi Holger, the only thing I installed I think was Rivatuner with D3D overrider, here you go...

Hi

I do not know if this will help, but Rivatuner has been known to interfere / hinder the correct functioning of airports that use dll’s as a part of their installation on previous occasions, most notably the FSDT offerings, so disabling or uninstalling Rivatuner might get you back to normal.

I hope it helps.

just a quick edit, I was getting a bit mixed up here as I think it was actually ATI Catalyst, so it may not be just the Rivatumer that is causing an issue, sorry for the duff information.

Actually Jim, it started to happen since installing Rivatuner! I'll take a look at that, thanks...

EDIT: Well, nice try, but after uninstalling Rivatuner and then replacing a backup DLL, I still get the error message...

Hi Howard

Sorry to hear that, but it was a long shot not helped by my bit of confusion between the Rivatuner and the ATI Catalyst, it just goes to show that a lack of sleep and clear thinking do not go together well.

I am sure that there will be a fix for the issue you are getting though.

Hi Howard,

sorry, I lost track of the thread.

I don't see anything obviously wrong with your dll.xml either though I do know that it's very fickle in terms of formatting etc. so it could be a minor issue or (invisible) special character that trips up FSX. The fact that the error message switched from SAK to NZQN seems to indicate that it's indeed something within the .xml file. You can continue to re-install the add-ons flagged upon start-up but it's possible that'll just push the issue around.

Alternatively, you can remove your current dll.xml file and start from scratch. FSX won't automatically make a new one but reinstalling FSUIPC or running any of our ModuleInstaller.exe files (via double-click) in the respective airport scenery folders, e.g., \ORBX\FTX_NZ\FTXAA_NZQN\Scenery, will get you going on the rebuild. The annoying part is that you'll need to get each entry added separately and you obviously have a lot of those. In other words, you'd have to use the above list to go to each folder in the <Path> lines and run the corresponding module installer or whatever else a given third-party add-on uses to add its entry.

Perhaps someone else has a better idea or you can find alternative approaches via a Google search. Also, maybe you can find a backup of an earlier dll.xml in C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX or you have a backup of that folder somewhere else? If that version works you'd at least not have to start all the way from scratch.

Cheers, Holger

Hi Holger, thanks for your reply. Sure, I had a backup which I tried, but to no avail. However, there appears to be no issue at the airports in the dll file, so I guess I'll just have to put up with on startup, unless anyone else can come up with an answer. Cheers...

If this problem is related to files in the user account, what about trying to logon to windows as a different user (new or existing user account) to see how files created in that account would affect the error? Also, if perhaps related to the registry, could you try a windows Restore to a date a couple of days back or to a day before the problems started?
