No DME for ILS/LOC 11 at PAKT

I love the level of detail for PAKT. It has been one of my favorite airports since FS2000. I recently up graded my computer and I am finally transitioning to FSX. I have the Pacific Fjords package and just added PAKT. Unforunatly the DME for the ILS on 11 is no longer working. It did work fine with the Pacific Fjords version of PAKT. My PAKT order number is  FSS0268292. Please advise how to activate the DME.

Thanks,

Greg

I have done some more research. I installed the FSX SDK so that I could get Airport design editor to work. ( I miss afcad.) It appears that the add DME block was not checked when the Orbx_PAKT_apx.bgl was built. I assume this is the correct BGL because this is the one that showed the runway Localizer and glide slope when I opened in ADE. I did add the DME late last night. I will need to change the BGL names to test my creation.

It would be much better if the PAKT developer were to open the correct BGL and add the DME. The approach would then conform with the publish approach procedures. I am a real world commercial pilot. My flying is now done only on the computer. It is much more important to me that the navaids reflect the real world capabilities than the great eye candy of ORBX PAKT. Of course, I want both. That is why I purchased this add on.

Please correct this omission. My PAKT order number is  FSS0268292

I tried my modified BGL. As I suspected, it had unintended consequences. The elevation became that of the stock ORBX PAKT. My aircraft was on the ground with the ORBX PAKT objects above it. I reverted it to as installed and PAKT displayed normally. The ILS approach at PAKT would not be certified without the DME as Pakt does not have an OM or MM. I tried and failed to correct the mistake. Please fix the approach to conform with the published approach procedure.

Thanks,

Greg

The fix for this could be very simple. Check the DME box on the AFCAD. I also understand that because of the elevated runway, it maybe more complicated. Silence from February 12, 2014 on the issue by management is disturbing. This issue is important to me.

Hi Greg,

PAKT was the work of Russ White who is no longer with Orbx, I'm not sure why the DME is omitted so unless it was intentional it should be a quick fix. Generally patches and support for airports come from their respective developer and I don't know who is in charge of patching Russ's work now that he has left, but I will inquire and get back to you.

Regards,

Alex

Hi Greg,

I was mistaken, Russ is still in charge of patching his airports released through Orbx and he has been contacted in regards to this. If I hear any more news on this I will update you here.

Graham,

This patch did restore the DME to the ILS 11 PAKT. Thank you!

However, there is now a jagged line appearing down the center line of the runway, when aircraft are on the runway.

Hi Holger,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. You were wise to post the directions link. This the first time I have done this.

Interestingly, I did not get the jagged lines using the Eaglesoft Citation X.

Hi Greg,

I tried out PAKT with the hotfix and can't produce the same jagged line, could you try disabling the file (rename to .OFF) and see if the jagged line goes away?

Additionally, are you running FSX in DX10 Preview Mode?

Hi Alex,

Sorry It took me so long to get back to you. Real life has been interfering with FSX. I changed the name of the hot fix file as you suggested. The elevation of the ramp reverted to stock PFJ. The runway elevation was fine. The jagged lines went away. I restored the hot fix file to BGL. Elevations returned to normal. Jagged lines returned. I will re download the hot fix and test that file. If that resolves the problem, I will report back. If not, I am much happier with DME for the ILS with jagged line than with out DME and jagged lines. The Eaglesoft Citation X did produce the jagged lines in the last test. I understand that if you cannot duplicate the event, there is no chance of a fix. It does not look like an of the other folks who download the hot fix have reported the issue.

Thanks for your help.
