Would imagine if you have the DVD in its drive, stop the Autorun. Then Double click the new installer on your desktop. Should be able to find the data it needs and start the installation. Then change discs when instructed as normal. Sounds the logical way at least.

The problem I have is that I have the downloaded version from the Flightsim Store - I don't think they have thought of this and nobody seems able to help at they end.

Cheers,

Craig

Hi Craig

I'm having a similar problem but mine stems from the zip file not extracting at all. You might want to email Stefan from Pilots @ steve@fly2pilots.com... He's been very prompt in replying to my emails. Apparently a lot of people are having problems so it's not just you.

Regards James.

Thanks James, you have been the most helpful. I will email him.

I would have thought Jay at FSS would have been on to this as we have been emailing each other about it but he seems unconcerned, which I thought he would considering it's a product on his site.

Thanks again,

Craig

I've since managed to sort out the problem of extracting the file, but now I can't get the p3d 2.0 set up to run. It comes up with an handled exception message. After further conversation with Stefan I've pretty much decided to leave it until the flightsim store installer is updated for p3d 2.0, which I'm sure will be soon. Let me know if you have any success in the meantime!

Regards James

Will do.

At this stage Jay at FSS has pushed me off to 'Pilots' so no further developments - no answer, he's not interested!!

Help Needed

I just downloaded FSGlobal2010 for FTX in 5 separate downloads. Can someone advise how do I install it, I haven't had to install anything like this before :(

Sorry about your issues too but unfortunately it's hard to get any help about this one. There's a number of different issues and no instructions. We're trying!

Maybe because Orbx recommends Pilots FS Global 2010 for FTX for there future releases, , perhaps they should be helping us out a bit more by getting in touch with Pilots and try and help to sort these issues out.

Its not too hard. One of the downloads is a FSS installer. Just make sure all the downloads are in the same folder on your FSX computer and click on the FSS installer, and then follow the window prompts. Be sure and read each one. Its fairly automated at that point, but there are a few spots where you could close a window too soon if you don't read first. Let us know if you need more help. I will be busy and away from the computer much today, but I will check back when I can.

I have it (ftx download version) installed within FSX, I simply downloaded the dvd version of the installer from fspilots.

Installer for Prepar3D 2.0
27.11.2013 (1.0)

This installer is for the DVD version ONLY.

and told it I wanted to link to the existing install..I browsed to the install dir it ran and updated the P3dV2 to point to the original install - result! P3dv2 runs and uses the fsx installed files (no extra disk space requried)

you could off course simply add them by hand to the scenery library.

I'm not aware of anything else particularly fancy thats going on with the installer.. but it would be good if the installer on the fss site got upgraded (keeps everything in the one place)

of course ymmv cheers

FSS has over 2000 products, support for Global is provided by PILOTS and not FSS in regards to the technical details of their product. IF the issue had been with something on FSS side of things it would have been prudent to assist you but as PILOTS specialises in THEIR product that you bought from THEM via a reseller, tech support is provided by THEM not FSS.

Same goes for ANY other product on FSS, matter of fact, fspilotshop.com ,simmarket.com etc etc ALL do the same thing. We cannot be experts on 2000+ products.

Also, not very appreciative of the hacking of my persona in this thread, if it was warranted, fair call but seeing as it is not warranted but based on your unrealistic expectations of what a resellers support should be. It is not on mate. It's also not the first time IIRC just not involving myself.

At this stage the P3Dv2 compatible version of the package is being uploaded to the FSS servers. From what I understand PILOT'S does have a work around for the meantime and I am sure you've been advised by Jay that you should contact PILOT's for further assistance. You're right, we aren't able to help you at this moment in time so either contact the developer as advised of be patient while we get the new installer up.

Post after post going after Jay and FSS all within a few hours of each other. I don't suppose during that time you contacted PILOT'S as instructed? I understand you are eager to get the product installed but a little patience and understanding go a long way to allowing that to happen.

Now, here is the state of affairs as far as installing FS Global 2010 into P3Dv2.

1. Download all six files that make up all the parts of a multi-part zip file from your FSS account.

2. Extract the zip file using either WinZip or WinRAR. Apart from 7Zip (which won't work) no other compression programs have been tested.

3. At this stage we are still a few days out getting the latest installer up on the server. So you will need to contact PILOT'S with your serial number to obtain the new P3Dv2 installer file.

4. Place the installer file provided by PILOT'S into the same folder where you extracted the zip files you downloaded from FSS.

5. Run the P3Dv2 installer file.

If you are having trouble extracting the zip file or are having errors indicating corrupt files or the like you should check that the files are downloaded correctly. To do this:

1. Check the file size of the file against the information on the download page at FSS. Right click on the file and select Properties to see the file size in bytes. If any of the files do not match the value shown on the download page that file will need to be re-downloaded.

2. If the file size (in bytes) matches, then check the MD5 checksum for the file against that shown on the download page. Do this using a tool called WinMD5. If the checksum of any of the files does not match that file will need to be re-downloaded.

I had some issues with my order (picked up the wrong version - whoops!) and the customer service from Stefan (at Pilots) and the folks at FSS has been outstanding...especially considering all the time zones, and the fact it's the weekend ;D

Just email Pilots dag nabbit!

WOW - Thank you - finally an answer!! That wasn't that hard was it?? Communication goes a very look way.

It would have been good to know that 7zip doesn't work as that was one of (oops sorry I can't mention names) somebodies recommendations.

Thank you for your info but in future, the less I can buy from you guys the better.

Cheers

Has this (number 2) been tested with Total Commander?
