felixthreeone
Just updated to the V1.01 of Siletz Bay; The control panel will not let me disable any of the ambient sound files..It just keeps saying 'could not switch option ...'? I would like to deisable all of the ambient sounds but none will allow me to do this. Any help would be appreciated
Ron Attwood
I generally hate the posts that say "I don't have that", but just to confirm it is nothing to do with the control panel per se, I've successfully silenced those noisy birds! TymK
Quick solution: Go to "Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ORBX\FTX_NA\FTX_AA_S45\Scenery\" and look for "duplicate" file pairs (same name, but one with "OFF" appended at the end, e.g. "S45_sound_birds.bgl" and "S45_sound_birds.bgl.OFF"; see the explanation below). Delete just the ones with "OFF" (only where duplicates exist!). Then, go to the config panel and try again... My findings: When you disable one of the options, the corresponding BGL file is renamed by adding "OFF" at the end (e.g. "S45_sound_birds.bgl" becomes "S45_sound_birds.bgl.OFF" and so on). When you reinstall/upgrade, the original (non-OFF'ed) file is reinstalled, and there are "duplicates" in the folder (same base name, one with "OFF" appended). The config panel cannot then rename the file to "<name>.OFF" when you disable an option since a file with the same name already exists (due to the fact that you disabled the option in the previous version). EDIT: Added some clarification...

Bill Womack
Thanks, TymK, you beat me to it. Matt, somehow when you installed the patch, the file that's supposed to clean up the .OFF files missed your sound files. Glad it's all sorted now.
