Idaho strips

I love to fly the strips in Idaho. The best guide I could find is

http://idahoaviation.com/idahoAirstripNetwork.php

The columnn on the right gives coarse but useful schematics. Some have a picture here :

http://itd.idaho.gov/aero/Technical/Airport%20Photos%20.htm#Atlanta

And for those I took off from or landed in (Atlanta, Big Creek,Bruce Meadows), the Orbx scenery is dramatically accurate !

A spectacular one (without a picture) to fly in is Memaloose at the edge of the Hell's canyon. Now if somebody could explain me how to land on the Mile Hi Strip... Didn't crash because the Cub can turn on a dime but no way I could land.

Don't know if it's the "right" way to land at Mile High....(normally flying Cessna 185)

I land uphill, full flaps, approach speed about 10 knots above stall, shallow glide slope.

This let's me flare to match the uphill gradient, speed bleeds off, and I touch down at just above stall. Then I get on the brakes :)

(for mile hi landing) what he said (h3pilot). a good bush plane with flaps is a must, and the j-3 cub has none. I'm sure it can be done, but I'm much more comfortable in my supercub. Dewey Moore is the really fun one.

thanks for the info and for reminding me I need to spend some time in the Idaho Bush, been flying tubeliners the last few weeks. looks like I may be gassing up the Supercub at McCall this evening!

Thanks. About Mile Hi. Did dit. Once. The key for me was to come high (and slow) and then dive and do an ugly 3 point. For Dewey Moore coming high is not an option though  .Nice to see aircraft waiting for you besides both strips !

This is not a 'How To" for Mile Hi, but this is my Super Cub from Flight Replicas. Any Cub will work and even did the strip in a Cessna 210. Just takes practice.

That has been one of my favorite areas in the sim world since FS9. Idaho Primative area. Orbx really did it justice...I believe.

There are some amazing freeware Idaho dirt strips over at oz x. There are four of them in this package called Dirt Gold. Highly recommended
