Iain Emms
I was asked today by felix56 what my fps was around this scenery so here are a few shots i dont use the frame counter as long as i get a smooth ride im fine and i do get one with this city. you can see how my settings are scenery complexity Extremely Dense, Autogen Density Extremely Dense. Tigerclaw
I must admit Iain, that area does look better on your system than it does on mine. I'm just happy I can see the sky scrapers and a few buildings. I have to use normal for my autogen though. Very nice shots indeed, I'm very jealous
John Venema
Impressive FPS Emmsie! Even I cannot run Portland at max autogen, so you definitely have your rig setup nicely indeed! Note that generally speaking a photoreal area will perform better than landclass autogen due to there being less autogen objects in the coverage area. Rob Abernathy
Thanks greatly for such a superb landscape/city! I've been to Portland many times, both day an night and this looks amazing. To top it off the smoothness really surprised me. In this shot I'm getting 23 fps on my system (see siq). I have autogen and scenery density sliders all the way right. Only thing I did to improve the smoothness was turn off the AI aircraft. I left the road traffic, etc on. Can't wait to try it out at dusk/night tomorrow sometime. Congrats on a stellar project. My spec is Thermaltake Armor LCS VE2000 case ,Intel Core i7, 930 Asus Rampage Extreme 111 Motherboard,Patriot Viper 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel Memory, ,Corsair Hydro H70 High Performance CPU Cooler,,Gamers Extreme 1KW Power Supply,,Gainward GeForce GTX 480 Graphics Card,1xVelociraptor 150GB WD1500 10,000rpm ,1x Velociraptor 300 Gb 10,000 rpm,1x 500GB SATA Drive,Windows7 64bit, overclocked to 4.2 Ghz, i run a 22 inch Samsung Black Rose Monitor at 1680x 1050. i think good house keeping with whats on the machine also helps a lot. JoseCFII
What's most impressive is that fps are locked at 40 in FSX. Are you getting such high fps with AI and Car Traffic Disabled or are they enabled? Jose
ryanbatc
Those are neat pics. Tell me - when you're cruisin at 200 kts or so in that Duke do all the textures stay crisp and loaded? I'd love to get a PC to power PNW but mine always looks like crap and the scenery tiles get blurry. Plus autogen is at normal.
