Lucevan
Is there a problem with the ILS at Runway 12 at Comox (CYQQ)? It seems to point to the far end of the runway. Or is it just me doing something stupid? Got PNW SP3 installed and PFJ. Thanks Peter
Tim Harris
Hi Peter, I'll ask Neil to check this for you, can I ask if you have the AS Catalina installed? if so this includes some scenery files for COMOX
Neil Hill
Hi Peter, There is only one ILS at CYQQ, for rwy 30, so using that as the rwy 12 ILS will indeed make touchdown at the other end. It seems to me you could use it as a "back course" landing help but I have no expertise in this concept. Cheers, Neil
macca22au
Yes it could be used as a backcourse, or localiser, approach but like the VOR approach you would have to manage the descent rate yourself (DME and altitude if Comox has a DME). IRW it would be illegal in IFR unless it was a published approach.
Lucevan
Tim No catalina installed (unfortunately) and no other Comox scenery. My FSX map says it's ILS 12. Thanks for the info guys I think I'll avoid doing any instrument landings there or I will end up in the water and need a Catalina. Holger Sandmann
Hi Peter, you may have seen this already but there's an excellent freeware Comox add-on by Don Grovestine that is fully compatible with PNW: http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=23080.0 . I seem to remember that he also made adjustments to the ILS. Cheers, Holger
Lucevan
Holger Brilliant. I had missed that before. I came here with a problem on an ILS and go away with a whole airfield. Many thanks Peter
CoolP
You should have far more problems if everyone generates scenery then, Peter. Thanks for the tip and nice flights.
Heronjr
Hi Gentlemen, Thanx for all information, but ILS12 at CYQQ is chartered at Canadian Civil Aeronautical Data effective since 15Dec11. So, the freeware scenery will save our souls. Have all a great 2012,
